    Hello,

I'm having a bit of difficulty. I've removed the 4 screws below the steeering wheel. loosend the 2 bolts to adjust the hight.

I am trying to loosen the large "compression fitting" to allow the steering column to ext a bit. Boy is it hard working under there:)

With a Channel lock I'm not having much luck loosening it?

Any advice on what to use and how to get it to budge?

    Thanks

    Marc:)

And yes, I have read other threads about this process. Just not having great luck completing the adjustment. Well back to the Garage:)

I finally used a small pipe wrench on my 308. Now it's just hand tight and it doesn't change at all. I used a rag as padding so that I didn't make ugly marks on my steering column.

Wow, I have adjusted three cars, and never had a problem...yes the two nuts were super tight, but once loosened, they column moved nicely.

Once you get the cover off the bottom it should be pretty obvious what bolts to loosen. Make sure you are loosening the right ones though! The two with arrows pointing at them are the ones you should be loosening (and the same two on the opposite side of the column). Once they are loose the whole column should shift up or down depending on where it is set at now. There really isn't much adjustment though, so don't expect a huge difference.

Thanks for the photo. I wasn't aware of the upper bolt. I have been trying to loosen the collar down the shaft.

    Thanks gang!

Well, I didn't need the pipe wrentch. Lostening the uper bolt did the trick. I can see the instruments perfectly now, and I have maybe an extra inch for my clutch "knee". I will go ahead and order that externsion. I could only find a 25mm one.

I have only had my 308 for a bit over a month. So much fun to drive, and the little things to fix.

    Next projects:

Fix sliding passanger seat. The front release lever just spins.

Upgrade to red spark plug leads

Install cats to pass CA Inspection.

Regrease my windows - maybe thst electronic devide to make them fast. I really don't care:)

    Electrical "birdman" upgrade.

Fix my oil leak - I think I know where its coming from just cant figure out what that hose was attached to?

And I'm sure many more projects to keep me busy!!!

    But it sure is fun.

    Thanks

    Marc:)
