So I'm doing a complete rebuild of my 308, but I probably will go high compression pistons, cams, EFI, and such. Looking up the price on the carbon/carbon clutches caused me clutch my chest from what must have been cardiac arrest. I then looked at the CERAMETALLIC 2 disc clutch. Price looks reasonable. Has anyone check these out and have comments?

    John,
With the set up you are talking about the stock clutch should be more than fine. The next step up is to go with a kelvar clutch, it's a little more money but works well on a boosted street cars.

To your question. Tilton does not recommend their cerametallic clutchs for street use. Google told me quite a few people are running them on the street so you should be able to get some kind of idea about feel and life by reading though some of the stuff that pops up.....my guess is you'll end up with a very digital feel and a short life which is why it's not recommended.

John, MK_E is right as if my memory serves me correctly, the Kevlar is the way to go for street and the cerametallic is VERY/too grabby (like an on/off switch so good for track use because there are no stop lights :) and racing means precision with high use). Alas, forget which one Nick Forza supplied me, think it was cerametallic and lemme tell you, on the street it was indeed a bit of a challenge and had to 'launch' the car at stop signs and red lights. The 308 that was here also had a far lighter than stock clutch so that is another MINUS for street use.... though on the track she was outstanding and far better than stock setup imho.

So yeah, MK_E is right Kevlar if you plan to add HP/TQ and car is mainly street use.

Mac Tilton is an old friend. If he say not to use it on the street....don't.

As you have already been told the stock clutch should be fine. If not, the V12 clutch is a direct replacement with more clamping pressure.
