Grazie Alberto! I bought my 348 tb 2 years ago in Italy. It has vin 83466 and was made in 09/89. There are some peculiar things on my car that I haven't seen on other cars. Can you please post some pictures of the following parts: - lower front windscreen is red on my car, not satin black - only one heatshield in the back - no cats - in the front compartiment, there is no belt to fasten the toolbox Ps Alberto, congratulations with this car. It is really great that you share it's details.
Oh Alberto, and also a picture of both window buttons please as they seem to be different from later ones.
Thanks for sharing! I think this 348 will be much appreciated in the next years as the piece of the automitive history that it really is. Many 348s were built, most of them were used, some abused, some modified and even improved. But in 30 years, when people go to a museum, they will have in front of their eyes a 348 exactly as it leaved the assembly line, not repainted, not reupholstered, just the car that those Ferrari workers made. Alberto, It´s a great privilege that you personally met Mr Enzo Ferrari. He built the legend with his extraordinary determination of winning races, and in his way, he left us a lot of beautiful race cars road legalized. The Ferrari of nowdays is too different without him.
sorry for the bad pictures. Engine was never washed or even cleaned. I will clean it a bit, but without water or other fluids The second picture was taken with the car out of the box and waiting for the truck that delivered me the car, still covered of dust ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank Moiluck i met him in 1987 at the (at that time) new F1 Racing Department close to the Fiorano test track, in the small press office. He was very old, but acted and talked like the boss he still was. Or, better, "the Drake". It was a strog emotion. ciao
I'm sorry, but at the moment i have just these. The car is stored far from here. I will post them as soon as i can. ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
John k 348 I do just what you talk of, I drive it only when the sun is out, just to keep the engine turned, cam belts to new position, wheels turned, seals lubed etc.this regular but low use regime has got me to the current 5k miles for my 1991 car. I bought it on 2650 miles over several years ago so have gradually doubled its mileage. By doing this it appears mine has faired better in some visual areas than the one in these pics. ...although my original tyres, whilst pretty unworn, are perishing on the sidewalls so need imminent replacement.
I have the car since two weeks: i sent it to the mechanic shop to change all fluids and have the engine turned a bit to lube seals and gaskets. Pictures shows the engine compartment as is after 20 years of storage and no hands on it: it will look by far better after cleaning, as it has just 1500 miles and is more clean on the lower part of the engine than on the upper parts, where dust lays. If you have a better looking and less weared 348 than that, i want to buy it! ciao
For being a time capsule 348, it has very worn both engine cover insulators under the rear hood... Have you thought in changing them? Mine were very worn as well and I removed them until I find something similar... Regards,
Like sticky plastic, it's just an age problem, whatever the mileage is. They will be changed, as they are gone, but not now: at the monment i plan to remove them from the car. ciao
The original tires on my 92 look perfect but I wouldn't trust them at speed or for distance. The car has always been in a climate controlled garage, so that has probably contributed to them not dry rotting.
For a car like this, I don't agree with those who say to drive it. It is a museum piece, and it should stay that way. There are plenty of other 348s out there to drive.
Unfortunately both original insulators part numbers there are now no longer available neither from stock nor to order... If you find any solution, similar to the original one, please, let us know.
congrats!! each to his own but when I buy my Ferrari, I hope to put the most miles on it, have the most memories in it and keep it out of the garage (both mine and shop) as long as I can. enjoy yours!!
Hi Albert, anyway take care of that, if you keep them in that condition they will start to decompose or go off everywhere, in a way very similar to a sticky powder that can be glued on the top of your engine. I removed mines because of this. I think they have no other function than isolate a little bit the engine sound.
I think the way the car is stored has as much to do with the preservability of the insulation as the mileage the car has on it. This is my 92. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I guess it's a Euro car. Is 1500 US miles or is it 1500 Euro miles on the odo? 1500 Euro miles is about 9300 US miles. Bertil
Thanks and also upside down, let's try this angle. Oh we'll, they are showing right side up in my photos. Image Unavailable, Please Login
What is a "euro mile"? I am a European and I have never heard of a euro mile. I am very curious to know.
Your 348 is very nice. It's one of the first was producted with the lower front windscreen red not satin black and now with the Bridgestone RE71.
