So I picked up the bypass valve this morning......better than working and sure enough maybe due to the excessive heat in the system I think that maybe the heat caused the shaft to bend slightly over the years and it was discovered that the valve was binding and was unhooked. My carb guy straightened it with a few precise hits of a small persuader (read hammer) and sure enough......this thing moves as smooth as can be. I will put it back together this weekend and report back in. Very excited .

Mine moves and functions. Just rattles like a son-of-a-*****. Destroys the nice engine sound that she should have at idle.

Contact gothspeed. He either has made his own bypass valves or rebuilds them. I can't remember which. I'm pretty sure he has a valve unlike any other and it improves performance. I seem to remember a sliding unrestrictive plate vs. A throttle shaft arrangement.

I contacted Goth a year ago but he did not have a bypass replacement for the OEM. His was a new bypass for his exhaust system only. I asked him to let me know if he came up with a replacement for the original. Have you heard something new?

Just pieced my valve back together and reinstalled everything . Haven't had a chance to test it out but am hopeful everything is sorted out. Valve seemed to operate smoothly and seems to start to open at a few lbs of vacuum and was fully open at 7 to 10 lbs of vacuum . We'll see what the real life verdict is. Thanks to all for a great brotherhood and clarity on so many issues. Will be in So California in two weeks. Can't wait, love Laguna Beach, great town. No snow there!

    hi all.

my F355 fiorano spec is currently in at Ferrari for a major and as part of it I decided to treat myself to a capristo exhaust...I managed to make a great deal with the capristo agent and then was offered an even greater price for the capristo by-pass valve to compliment...both of which Ferrari fitted for free as the engine was out anyway....which was nice!

so, if anyone was interested, my perfectly functioning by-pass with no rattles or sticking issues shall be available when I get the car back next week...an email to the Ferrari service manger would no doubt confirm it functions as it should and was only replaced due to a moment of weakness!

I have a used oem, perfectly operating condition, bypass valve on Ebay for sale. I would pull the listing and sell to an Fchatter at a discount if interested (it is already offered at the lowest price on Ebay)....just PM me. I did likewise many years ago, I installed a Capristo exhaust and Capristo bypass valve on my car.

hi all. thanks for the reply and the p/m's about the by-pass valve.

I am located in the u.k so there shall be a postage cost.

please advise what is deemed as a fair price and hopefully I can get this to a F-chatter in need...obviously impartial valuations are appreciated!

I should be having the car and the removed parts sent back to me this week, so I can then forward pics of the valve in all its glory.

as before, it was in perfect working order until removed 2 weeks ago with no opening issues or rattling, and has not been lying on a shelf somewhere for a period of time.

    regards.
