I have about a week or so left at my current job and then im going out on my own kinda. Im going to be starting a internet marketing and ecommerce consulting business div for a market research company out of Cincinnati Ohio. Basically, ill be taking peoples websites and working with them to get lots of targeted traffic to their site and with the ecommerce consulting, ill show them how to maximize traffic and site parameters for more sales and higher profits. Id like to stick with the auto industry cause i know it, but ive got a clothing company and a jewelry website lined up for some work, so it looks like ill be doing a little of everything.

Im a bit nervous, because ill pretty much be on my own, but at the same time im excited because, ill be on my own and making the money based on what i know how to do and love to do.

Thanks guys and ill still be on here as often as possible.

Banned, i wasnt aware i was doing anything wrong, i can remove the links if necessary, i just thought id share my new job with people.

Anyways, getting target traffic is a combination of SEM and SEO both onsite and off. There are hundreds of methods of driving traffic to your site, its a matter of finding the correct combination for your site and utilizing them in the proper order. Find your keywords and make them first rank well in google, then compare your stats to your sales and edit the site accordingly to drive your sales through the roof. Its a long term commitment for any site owner, but targeted traffic is a must have. Its taken me years to learn what i know and the secrets i use, but ive also worked closely with contacts at google and yahoo and have learned a lot from them. I also subscribe and read about 20 SEO/SEM/Ecommerce blogs a day to stay on top of current trends and changes with SE technology. The search engines change their algorythmns every few months meaning constant changes and marketing is needed.

well, thought it was time for an update.

After 3 days of owning my own company, things have been well i guess. Ive been very busy with emailing proposals and setting up appts with clients, so i think its going to be fun. The part i thought was going to be the hardest was waking up early and keeping myself motivated, but ive found that motivation is not a problem when working for yourself and knowing that everything you earn is because of your work.

So, all is well and i cant wait to really get things rolling.

It would be a good idea to subscribe to this site and gain access to the B&I forum where marketing your skillset would not be (as) frowned upon.

Regarding SEO, the issue as I see it is that guys like me, who own e-commerce websites, already get tons of folks telling them they can raise their sales through the roof. I tend to be rightly skeptical, and I'd wonder how such a thing is paid for. If it's a flat fee, I'd base my pick of which SEO'er to choose based on a portfolio of successful projects where I can talk to the clients and they can tell me about their sales increases. On the other hand, I'm not much into giving up a % of my game to someone else.

Tough thing to market, I'd imagine - good luck with it.

Thats what got me into it, i had tons of companies coming to the company i worked for years ago trying to sell their SEO services, and after trying numerous ones with no real understanding of it, and getting no results, i started learning it on my own. Its tough to get a good foothold in the industry with all the scammers out there. I know exactly what you are saying.
Thanks for the good luck wishes and best of luck with your ecommerce stuff.
