Isn't it about time for another Mondial gathering? Maybe meeting in the Smoky Mountains area would be a good location. The National Park is there, the Tail of the Dragon is very nearby as is Cherohala Skyway, there is all manner of rafting, (non-prancing) horseback riding, & many places to stay in the mountains, etc.
    Just an idea.
Full disclosure: I have never actually made it to a Mondialpalooza ...

Mike (soucorp) and I have discussed it and I would host down here at the beach in Wilmington but the mountains sound good too. I haven't been on here in a while but would be up for another.

All the robogeeks wholeheartedly and enthusiastically agree. What would be the timeline? Summer 2018? Maybe we should do like the Olympics, or the FIFA World Cup, every four years.

    I would vote for NC.

I recently spent some time there with the Mondial. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a great driving road, not fast but fun, especially thru the tunnels!

Lots of nice places to stay and eat there too.

The Boone area is especially nice, IMHO.

How about Spring, 2018 ... before it gets too hot and families with school kids are everywhere? We do need at least 6 months preparation time, right? I know I do!

If you are in SoCal, bring the car over to my place tomorrow for Stoogefest (check the 348/355 section). Some of you actually have a 348 in drag. ;)

We would love NC, but really, we had such a great time at the first Mondipalooza that we'll go wherever the next one is located. The spring wouldn't work for me thought, I do a lot of work with schools, the summer would be the only viable time for me, so personally I vote for the summer, July 4th is on a Wednesday next year, I think that week would be perfect. We'll commit to providing the fireworks again if necessary, as we did for the first Mondipalooza, we'll pick them up on the way up from Miami.

Mike and i planned this 6 months ago and felt the 4th of July would be best. My house for a big pool party and live entertainment then a charter boat cruise in the am owned by my neighbors (100 passenger boat) and then an hour away, take the car ferry boat to Myrtle Beach (my friend has a drone photography business) the next day for family activities and shows with all you can eat massive seafood buffets then fireworks

We can work on the details over the bext months but would want to onow how many would go for this

We're definitely in, put us down for 4-5 people, and at least one Mondial, with possibly five people we're going to need two cars, so maybe a coupe to keep the cab company. Hmmmm... I wonder if the wife will go for it.

This 4th of July gives us a little over two weeks to plan and schedule. That is a bit tight, bit doable for me.

I think we will lose a lot of participation by moving so quickly.

Also, traveling and being anywhere near the beach on the 4th of July is usually not an enjoyable experience with all the crowds and such. There would be a lot of drunken drooling over the Ferraris too.

But, I am in if we can make it happen.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the assumption that we were talking about July 4th 2018, next year. I don't think we can make it with only a couple of weeks notice.

    Thanks for the clarification.

I am in for July 2018 in the mountains of North Carolina, but we may want to consider doing it another date rather than the 4th due to crowds and such.

2018, for sure, was my idea for a date. Not that I'm in charge or anything.
BTW: I agree that July 4th is a wonderful week to AVOID!
