Well its time to let go of my SL 65. I've had good times with my SL 65 and I had no regrets purchasing one. I purchased my SL last year and it was shipped from Toronto to Vancouver because no dealership in the lower mainland had one. I was lucky to get my hands on it because the person who ordered it backed out at the last minute and I was lucky enough that the sales guy on Broadway was good friends with the manager at the Mercedes dealership in Toronto. I currently have 4200 km's and a fellow from Vancouver Island will be purchasing it as he's selling his current SL 55 to make room for the 65. Once the paper work is done and keys are handed over i'm going to be fresh meat in the exotic car market. Right now i'm leaning towards a brand new F430 or a used F360 Spyder. I had a chance to go see a Gallardo today at Weissach but my first choice would be a Ferrai and then a Lambo. I haven't had a chance to goto the Ferrari dealership on 1st Ave but from what ive been told the F430 has a 2 year waiting list and all the F430's coming into Canada are pre-sold. My next bet would be bringing a F430 from the states into Canada but i've heard that might also be a problem. I'm not in a rush so im hoping that I can get my hands on a F430 before summers end.

Good luck getting an F430. If you are willing I would say join the waiting list for an F430, but purchase a used 360 right now. I love my 360 and will probably keep it until it is no good. It was my first F-car and my favorite. Do you have any other F-cars?

good. skip the gallardos; so much overpriced in vancouver. if you really want one perhaps you might look into importing one from the US? RIV doesnt list lambos but last time i checked with them, RIV says they consider them on an individual basis.

FMoV has a used F430 F1 for sale. I was there on Friday and it says offer pending.

may i ask, if you sell it back to the dealership, don't you lose the GST savings towards the purchase of a new car? or you bought something else at MB?

Actually it'll be my first Ferrari. The most expensive car i've ever owned was the SL65 so i'm basically taking the ultimate step and purchasing a Ferrari. I would have loved to keep the SL65 and buy a Ferrari but i didn't win the lotto yet. I did speak to a broker and he said he might be able to find a F430 in the US but he did warn me that I should be prepered to pay close to $30,000+ over the sticker. And that doesn't include the cost of importing the car into Canada! I'll be visiting the Ferrari dealership in Vancouver next week and see what my options are. If I can't get a F430 then i'll go for the F360 Sypder.

I didn't want to post this earlier but I have one problem with buying a exotic. I can't drive standard, yikes! I'm actually ok but not good enough for a exotic. I know the Lambo's have e-gear which is semi-auto but from what i've read the F1 transmission is basically auto? Is this correct?

Kewpie, I actually sold it to a private buyer. I didn't lose as much money as I thought I was going to lose. I did speak to the dealership in Burnaby which had a intersted party for the SL65 but the person went with a CLS55 and no dealer wanted to pay what I was asking for. If I had kept the car and waited and did a trade in for the car im looking to buy now I would have saved on the taxes but I did get what I was asking for.

No, F1 transmission is a manual transamission without cutch and stick (i.e., no torque convertor). So, you should be ok.

I like that! It's a manual trans-a-mission! Sounds exotically Italian!
