Well, I got the word yesterday, it looks like the time has finally come for me to pass on my car to her next "Care Taker". Health issues and my advanced age have finally caught up with me. After 35+ years of original ownership, I would like to see her in the hands of someone within our F-Chat community. I will be listing her with all the information in the Ferrari ad's section.

    Regards,
    WilliamR

Sorry to hear that you have to let it go after such a long relationship. It has lasted more than most marriages.
I can't wait to see the car and see more details

Are you the original owner? Best of luck, hoping your health issues aren't serious.

I am the original owner, special ordered the car July of 1980, delivered February of 1981. I hate to be parting with her, but it looks like my driving days are shortly coming to an end. I am also selling off the rest of my car collection in addition to my Ferrari. I guess my lifestyle finally caught up with me. Oh well, I have no regrets.

    Bruno,

I was a periodontist, practiced in the Navy. My health is not the best right now, my cardio doc has advised me to pretty much give up on driving. I have an old Rolls Royce and may just hire a driver. What the Hell, when I was living in San Francisco, that was my game plan for buying it in the first place.

    Regards,
    William

A Rolls with a driver sounds great! Perio is a great specialty. Been the recipient of 2 grafts and a molar implant!

There are quite a few of us on here... I might be a prosthodontist myself :).

Dr. Tommy Cosgrove is also a dentist, and his favorite model year of 308 is the 80-82!

Hope you enjoy riding around in the Rolls, I can think of much worse arrangements! Good luck with the sale!

That's supposed to mean that in the 1800's survey was prevalent among sailors, one of the symptoms being loosening of teeth, ulceration of the gums... the sort of thing a periodontist might encounter on a ship... a few hundred years ago. A little historical and profession related humor.

    It's a joke.

And I am certainly not a prosthodontist but I have installed my share of CEREC restorations.

Thank you for the kind words. The people on this site are without a doubt the best you will ever come across. They are there to help with any questions and freely give the best of their expert advise regarding our cars. As long as I have breath, I will be tied to FChat.

    Steven,

You have no idea how shocked I was after this last visit to my physician. Its one thing to be told living in the fast lane will sooner or later catch up with you, but when it really happens, and you have no choice but to give up some of your favorite things, like driving, it really sucks. I really cannot thank you and Alberto enough for the help you gave me. I will really try to pass my car on to someone that will care for her the way I did.

    Regards,
    William

    William,

You've alluded to it several times, and I've seen the "then and now" pics of you with the 308; the look says player all over it.

C'mon old man, share the stories! They say you only have the toys you bring into a marriage; my Aprillia RSV and bong didn't make the cut but somehow I've held onto the 308. I want to hear what wild times my life would have brought me had I not settled down into domestic life :)

Best of luck with the sale and more importantly, your health.

    Cheers,

    Warren.

    Warren,

I was lucky enough to retire in my late 40's, a company I was part of went public. I was single, sold all my stock, and basically won the lottery. I then went on a quest to spoil myself rotten, which I did. Traveled the World, dated everyone from models to movie stars, was lucky enough to totally indulge myself with all the toy's ie: classic cars, boats, horses, property, you name it. I finally met the love of my life and married in 1994 (someone that was as crazy, spoiled, and had no interest in kid's). She knows what the 308 means to me, as the car was the beginning of my real life. The decision to part with her (the car) is mine alone, and she really needs a new place to reside, other than hidden away in a garage, and occasionally taken out for a stretch. I have learned that this life is not a dress rehearsal. We only get one go around and have to grab the ring regardless of the consequences. At least that has always been my philosophy. My health issues will be resolved one way or another. Like I stated before, it really looks like my driving days are over. I will miss the experience but, will greatly enjoy being chauffeured around for a change.

    Regards,
    William

    William,

Thanks for sharing! Things are just that, things. You have the memories and a great partner to share them with. You've enjoyed the ride thus far- enjoy the rest of it, and it includes being chauffeured around in a Rolls, not so bad!

    Best,

    Warren.
