    Hi all,

how long would it take for a professional Ferrari-only mechanic to remove the stock 348 steering wheel and put a non-stock one + a spacer?

I'm asking because in my 911 I've got a steering wheel similar to a Momo (with six allen screws) since forever (I bought it like that) and I'd like to have the same in my 348.

But I don't know at all what amount of work this represent and I wouldn't want the mechanic to rip me off "because Ferrari" :)

And is this a fully reversible "mod" (that is: can I later change my mind and go back to 100% stock)?

You can easily do this yourself in less than 30mins.

Turn the master power off (as later you will certainly touch the horn wires together)

The centre cover just clips on, so pull it off.

You will find wires for the side buttons and centre button are joined using spade connectors. So separate these.

    Undo the 6 allen screws.

    Remove wheel

fit spacer - screw in 6 bolts.

fit wheel - screw in 6 allen screws

    connect wires to centre button

    put centre cover back on.

Yes I agree. Definitely less than one hour - more likely 30 min.

    Loctite.

None at all - I would not - as it will make getting it off in a few years time a real bitxx. Just do them up hand tight with a small size allen key.

If it concerns you, check them every now and again until you get bored of doing it.

I did mine whilst i let the engine warm up ( i didn't cut master power) i just put some tank tape around the spades when i took it apart.

Thanks all for your answers and thanks for the pic(s).

Oh I see: so the stock one is already fixed by six allen screws and it's a standard?
