Naturally you want the current market value of gold but the purity/carat will make a huge difference and if they are a low production run of a valued mint that could also increase the value. I am certainly no expert so maybe posting some pics would help you out and heck maybe you could sell them here?

Have you had them professionally appraised yet as that would be my first step but imho it sounds like you have some very valuable coins.

My family owns a coin shop in Oregon City, OR and we buy that sort of thing every day. Gary is the one you want to talk to. Our number is 503-656-1835 and we are open 10-5 PST Tue-Sat. We've been in business for 50 years. Look up "coin-corner" on Ebay or Google "Coin Corner & Hobbies."

Here is a website that tracks the exact melt value of gold and silver coins:

    http://www.coinflation.com/gold_coin_values.html

    1904 $20 $1681.61
    1875 20 Francs $323.28

Unless those coins are uncirculated they are just worth the bullion value. If they are not damaged we would pay $1681 for the $20 and $300 for the 20 Francs at todays spot price.
