These hacker bastards have been brilliant for ages , remember Ferrari using them to hide their traction control software many years ago ?

Ransomeware has been their specialty for years, encrypting pics and documents for many small firms was a niche market they played heavily in.

The latest hacking attacks need to be cut off by blocking Russia from the internet

It may be drastic but it is highly disruptive and if you lose all of your money you won't be happy

As a first pass the best thing you can do is change your money passwords at least every month, keep a close eye on account purchases and clean your browser cache every month ("some" of you may lose your porn stash :p )

Never let someone on your computer via Teamviewer or AnyDesk, they will clean out your bank accounts in seconds and put a sensible limit on your daily spends

And use a good anti-virus protection like Malwarebytes or better

    Yes, do it Moretti.

Should only be a 5 minute job for a man of your talent.

Seriously though, I’ve already had to flag my drivers license due to the Optus breach and whom knows what’s been exposed with the medibank one now…

The problem is Adrian, if they have enough info, they can make you even more broke by taking out loans in your name :eek:

Yeah I had to get a new DL thanks to Optus.

And I’ve been getting 10x more scam emails / texts since that breach.

Is it actually possible to cut a particular country off from the net?

Definition of irony; scam email I received this week purporting to be from Ebay re suspect charge, asking me to call a Melbourne phone number - the joke was the funds were supposedly used to pay a company called Avast - who are a cyber security mob!

You would be surprised what is possible but there are always back doors.

Chinah has the Great Firewall of Chinah which is suppose to be using AI to clamp down on VPN connections but I've heard some people can get around that.

Anyway, I've a very smart friend coming to live with me for a few months while his wife and kid are in Portugal for a year so we'll see what we can do :)
