There have been a few, and only a very few, thank God, new posts in Corbani's Corner, and I think that it is about time that Corbani's Corner be locked down to new posts. The most recent concerns an alignment question that was added to one of Corbani's threads.

Most FCHATTERS that are active in the 206/246 section know that John Corbani was very well thought of in the Dino section - his Dino had about 195,000 miles on it at the time of his death, and I think that most of us believe that Corbani's Corner was intended as both a memorial and as a resource for other Dino owners to refer to, not simply to post and repost in, and Corbani's Corner is of historical interest. If new postings are allowed directly in that section, I believe that it will confuse newbies and possibly lead to a virtual littering, if you will, of Corbani's Corner, and that would be a shame, given the efforts that DM and others put in to organizing and indexing the posts.

You will note that it has been quite some time since anyone has posted directly in Corbani's Corner, except on only a handful of ocassions recently.

Corbani's legacy is still relevant, and can easily be used to inform discussions and exchanges that are ongoing in the main 206/246 section.

For example, if someone wants to post something that hasn't been addressed in the main 206/246 section for a while, I would suggest that you start a new thread with the title of your question and post it in the main 206/246 section (of course, one can always search for old threads in the 206/246 section that are relevant and then bump that older thread up again), and if you want to refer to something that was discussed in Corbani's Corner, then refer to the specific post and the date of the post (you can even copy the link into your post).

In that fashion, Corbani's Corner can be preserved, but still be of value in the interactive areas of the 206/246 section.

    Thanks for the comments.

    Please note:

    1. I had intended to had a poll to this thread, but I failed to add it when I posted. I have sent an email to administrators to ask them to add a simple Yes or No poll to this thread.

    2. It was obvious that people were able to post new replies to existing threads in Corbani's Corner, so I wanted to test if a new thread could also be started there too. I hoped that I could not start a new thread in Corbani's Corner, but I thought that if I did that I could easily delete any new thread if I was allowed to start one. To may dismay, I was able to start a new thread in Corbani's Corner AND I could not remove it. Now, I have inadvertently done what I was opposed to. I have requested that the administrators remove the new thread that I started in Corbani's Corner.

Finally, when I had the opportunity to drive Corbani's 246 after his death, it had just over 195,000 miles. It drove and handled amazingly well - JC really had it dialed in.

I think this is a very good initiative. It should be shut, and leave as it was intended, a great reference library.
Often times, people that are not aware of John's passing ask questions, in good nature, but misrepresented, as JC will not reply.
I am all for shutting it.

    Regards, Alberto

Initially i tend to agree however, a reference to his passing away would be a good idea ie Corbani's Corner RIP

On th flip side i am sure John would want it to continue as he enjoyed the debates.

Not fussed either way so long as the information / knowledge he shared with us is still available to all.

I agree it should be closed, when I see the rare posting in there I wonder why its not closed already.

I don't know who the gentleman is, and will never be able to afford a Dino, but shutting down something that was important to someone doesn't honor their memory. I would suggest appointing a new facilitator and continuing on.

Shark, it is not 'shutting down', it is simply 'closing' the Corbani Corner, just so people stop posting on his section as a respectful gesture.

Vote so far is 8 (in favor of locking it down, except for special requests through administrators) to 1.

I still consider a show of hands would be nice in JC's memory.

I would agree with closing it down as well. Lots of new threads in the 206/246 section anyway where Corbani's Corner is like a passionate historical reference section for the Dino.
