This pains me as a life long BMW fan, and several time Alpina owner, but the S class is just a better resolved luxury product. I would go with the S63- though I would rather just have the S560. I would go C7 ZR1 - I just like the looks and the Corvette heritage over the Viper. I wonder if the ACR might be a bit more of a track monster though... Heres one: New BMW M5 vs AMG E63S+ (or whatever the ultimate version is)
just curious, if the S-Class is a better product, why did you get the B7? there had to be something about the B7 for you, no?
That is a great point! I had several generations of B7. I thought they were more suited to my interests in prior model iterations. I'm bummed to say this but I think BMW's have become duller and duller and duller over the past 15 years. During that time, to their credit, both Audi and Mercedes have been doing a great job. I just don't like Audis, so thats me. Comparing the S class to the 7, as good as the 7 is, the S is just a better luxury car. My criticisms of Mercedes from around 15-20 years ago now apply to BMW. Maybe they will get the message one day. Also, it could simply be that I am older and prefer the more mature Mercedes product, but I don't think thats really it. @Ferrari 488 GTO I would also pick the E63+ reasons basically mentioned above. Though this new M5 appears to maybe finally, be getting M back on track. But, either way I can say one thing for sure, the AMGs sound amazing and the BMW M turbo engines sound horrible. I think many would take the hard core 991 GT2 RS- but not me. I appreciate the hardcore nature of the car, but I am probably a rare bird but I am not a 911 fan. I just don't like how they drive. So for me, its a quick decision in favor of the 488 GTB. And you know what I'd like even more? What your username implies: 488 "GTO" How about GTC4 v Panamera touring? (you can guess my pick!)
I own an S63 and an X5. I've owned other BMWs also. In my opinion a M5 or an Alpina is far more fun to drive than an S63. If it was going to be my only car I'd go for the BMW. I always had a Ferrari as a sports car so I bought an S63 but I am never excited to get in it to drive somewhere.
That's cool, thats why they make all these cars. I just don't feel the same way. In my opinion BMW lost the plot somewhere around 2005. But I stayed with them as I didn't really like the Mercedes offerings from that period. But lately, I've tried most of them and I think overall the BMW line up is really kind of dull and that's just so sad in my opinion. But you did not play: would you rather have the GTC4 or Panamera Touring?
Oh thats a toughie. I would go with the 675. Both look too physically large for their styling and both I am sure are stellar performers but neither really excites me. How about 575 SuperAmerica v 550 Barchetta?
Performante vs GT2. Both fastest at Nuremberg ring and while I very much liked the looks of a Huracan, I can't fit in it properly because of the low roof, on the Huracan on fast exit from a corner the 4 wheels dont pull as evenly, and it needs more correction, I would thus go with the Porsche. The GT3 is very smooth driving and keeps its line very well. I presume the GT2 will also. Just over the weekend in Dubai I saw fo sale a Ferrari F40, Enzo, LaFerrari, TDF and 812. Which would you choose ? Or choosing between Enzo / FXX and LaFerrari FXX version?
Great feedback! Between the street cars I would pick the F40 as I see it as the definitive supercar. Between the TDF and 812 I would pick the TDF based on the more focused driving experience and also I much prefer the styling of the TDF. Between the Enzo / LF and the XX versions, its really difficult because its street car vs track car. At this time in my life the street car suits me better, but there is a voice inside of me saying: you know you would pick the track version! How about 250 TDF vs. F12tdf?
