If by 1998 you mean 1999 then they do not have pre-cats which i believe is why most people will want to change the headers, I would be curious to know what kind of performance increase you get going from a factory header to another brand of headers. To me at this time it seems like alot of time, money and effort with little gain but I will follow to see if someone chimes in to explain the advantages. I have a 2001 360 and I will be putting headers on to eliminate the pre-cat failure one day and to take full advantage of sound and performance, something you likely don't have to worry about right now if yours is a 99 car.

I have a 2001 360 that I replaced the whole exhaust, engine to tips. The header/CAT issue was a good excuse to go ahead and be pro-active before any damage starts. My OEM muffler was putting out the white dust and there was cracked mounting brackets as well.

I went with Agency Power headers (JetHot coated), Kinetix high flow CATs, FabSpeed muffler (not my first choice, but due to availability).

I did all the work myself and swapping out the headers was very time consuming. I had to remove the seats and trim pieces to access the removable firewall panel just to reach two header nuts. You will most likely need to remove the inner wheel liners, rear bumper and all of the exhaust system. All the other nuts were reached from above, laying on blankets, using a dental mirror and small box wrench. I took a bit to learn which way to go with the wrench while looking in the small mirror. Check your headers! On my header, the main air port on one side was not drilled through. I am glad I caught this as I would have been major pissed if I had to take it all apart. New gaskets are a must!

The rest went well. I saw some pix where the FabSpeed muffler brackets failed due to sharp bends and corners of laser cutouts. I cut their brackets off leaving just enough to drill mounting holes to attach brackets that I made. Do a search, as I posted pix of this. I don't remember the thread name though. Not sure how long this took me but I am sure it was way more than a weekend.

I had my fuel injectors cleaned and calibrated. By the way I did get CEL and tried several sensor extensions, even double extenders did not eliminate the problem. I was directed to Steve at Mase Engineering in Jacksonville, FL. He dyno'd the car and then tweeked the ECU's to dial out the O2 CEL, correct A/F ratio, throttle response, and gained 17 more rwhp. No CEL!!!!! and well worth doing.

Hope some of this helps. Good Luck!!!!!

Are you certain the headers need to be replaced?
