Coming there in a few months. I got a hookup at the W and St. Regis. Also looking at Marriott.

Obviously St. Regis is in a different class, but is it worth probably double to triple the price?

Is the W good? Any other recs?

W Times Sq is great and "in the middle of it all" but note that Times Sq has been Disney-fied to some extent.

St. Regis: Great place to visit and have a drink at the famous bar where Dali got blotto and was driven to mad visions.

W Union Sq. gets you closer to the essence of NY.

Upscale neighborhood feel: The Mark on 77th off of Madison on the Upper East Side.

Supertrend: Hotel Ganesvoort or The Tribeca Grand.

    Good suggestions Buzz.

I'd also recommend the Hotel QT in Times Square (it's fun, has a pool behind the bar, and can be cheap) http://www.hotelqt.com

W is not bad, I like Tribeca Grand, but it is not in Times Sq.

I will say stay far away from the Time Hotel. It was so bad when I was back there about a year ago, we had to switch hotels and our only option was to go to the Hilton. :(

If you stay at the St. Regis make sure you upgrade - in one way or another - to a suite with the butler svc. The base rooms aren't that special - and not worth the $$ - although they are decorated to the hilt. They also have a couple of Bentleys available that just might take you where you're going.

If you're on a budget and have to be in Times Sq. I've heard that a place called "the muse" is very nice and new and is convenient to all of the midtown attractions. http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/11359786/new_york_ny/the_muse.html
