This has really been on my mind lately, because it hasn't been discussed here in at least 3 days.

The question is, on the 348, how often do you change the belt? And can it be changed with the engine in the car, assuming you're a freak contortionist?

Post changed due to the fact I didn't realise it was Husker at first ;). 4.5 years (Ferrari of Washington's quote) and No, not without at least unbolting and jacking up the engine and dropping the fuel tank.

reason I ask is that my ex sister in law is a freak contortionist who used to travel with the circus. If anybody can squeeze in there to do the job it'd be her.

Do you have a 348 that needs a belt service?

It needs a couple of lap belts but that's about it.

Well, I think that FNA has issued a bulletin to keep a spare timing belt in the car and to change it anytime the rear subframe falls off or if you drop the gas tanks to clean them. I'm sure that this subject has been discussed for the 308 and 328 models, but I don't think anyone has thought to ask it about the 348 yet.
What lubricates the timing belt on the 348 car???

Did I hear the latest thing in belts is ostrich skin? Or was that something else?

Actually, I thought it was lambskin. You know, for a more natural feeling engine.

I've had the timing belt changed recently and the clock in the car is now running slow.

Could it be a defective belt???

There is a small gear inside the clock which can be considerably weakened during the subframe removal. Sadly, the gear isn't available from Ferrari and you actually need to buy an entire center-console as a replacement. There might be a Kia cross-reference.

Husker, does she do lap too? Perhaps a contortionist has greater value in other venues.....[looking for a Fiver]

    Ah, very good example.

Here is the look of someone who's Ferrari just broke a timing belt. See how he's stranded out in the middle of nowhere? You don't want to be this person....

No ... no ... no. Lambskin is reserved for the Speciale .... cause it is so speciale. Ordinary 348s get Alpaca.
