My 348 dosent seems to have any marks on the timing belt gears, is this normal? There are some slight markings, but they dosent really align as you can see.. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
there should be a punch mark. Atleast on my 300ZX Twin Turbo does and it has the double overhead cams also. Also they won't "line up" with the belt. But when you put the new belt on they must line up the first time. Not sure how many revolutions it takes for them to all line up again, but on ZX's its alot.
my shop here in the US (one of the best), said the marks on the ferrari engines were mostly useless anyways and highly recommended using a timing wheel.
Marco
These are the ones that are important... when piston 1 is at TDC, all of them should line up. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=137549435&postcount=127 Also, if you want to use a degree wheel, here is the complete procedure from FBB http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=148917 DF
Image Unavailable, Please Login
NO NO NO... At least once follow these threads to at least verify your marks. Your car will thank you. Always degree if you want precision and optimum running because engine wear makes the marks move. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=148604 http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=148917
thank guys, mange tak. What does the mark on the crank wheel look like? I will pull the covers tomorrow, should be excting to see how far off it is, if any..
There is no mark on the crank wheel because it is the factory intention that you properly find TDC by any of a number of methods.
