Hi there, the big timing belt tensioner bolts on my 328 had some white goo on the threads upon removal. Do you folks put anything on the tensioner bearing bolt like antiseize, or alternatively loctite?

    Thanks!

I do not. But, I do clean the goo off the threads if I'm reusing the bolt.

Thank you Thorn, I think I'll clean off the white oily residue and use a small amount of torquing compound on the threads. Mostly I was looking to see if anyone uses threadlock on these.

    Might be white lithium grease.

I would recommend cleaning and lubricating the tensioner mechanism itself, when replacing the tensioner bearing.

A few drops of loctite nutlock will do no harm and u know it is not going to back off
