Aren't you guys sick and tired of the 20,000mi or 4 year timing belt change?

I just saw an article in the Boston Globe that states that Audi has a class action lawsuit because someone's A4, with 45,000mi, needed a new engine ($ 5000.) when the belt broke. Audi "recommends" a change at 95-105,000 miles!!

Wouldn't we be happy with a recommended change at 45,000 miles or maybe 8 years? Should Ferrari be using the same manufacturer as Audi?

Or, as a suspect, it's a cash cow for Ferrari dealers.

I don't know about the rest of you, but that service costs me $ 1250.00 and two other "Ferrari" repair shops charge $ 5000.!!! ( I have a 83 QV 308, bought new)

My old Toyota Camry V6, with that great engine ( double overhead cam, 4 valves + 7200rpm redline) recommended a belt change at 70,000mi at a cost of $ 300. Maybe we'd be better off with a modern chain ( like on my Mercedes) that lasts over 100,000mi.

Maybe we also need some lawyers to pressure Ferrari North America. I certainly would make selling used cars easier. Ever notice how anybody who sells a Ferrari always mentions," timing belt service just done."

    Any thoughts here?

    Regards, Papparazzi
