That is great information Brian....Thank You. I have seen one TR with the rear cover cut up, at the time I thought that it was just "messed up" somehow. But now I know it was intentional. For all the knowledge you impart upon us, sometimes a Thanks just doesn't get it. Is there some way I can show my appreciation? (feel free to email my privately) I know I'm not the only one who feels this way...

My 88TR is at this stage right now and there are signs of belt rub on that bridge - just to be clear, are you saying that it is safe to cut out the plastic between the red lines?

The top end now is completely done. Injectors, all caskets, new hoses, nice new bolts, fuel canisters all cleaned, waterpump done, all caskets refinished, all new clamps, values adjusted, new thermostats going in later....its starting to look nice and clean. Time for the belts and tensioners this week !
    Enjoy the pics.

I'll certainly add my voice to the "kudos & thx" to Brain comments. After my most recent dealer experience he can add me to his customer list when the time comes......

Anyway, great pix, and I guess I would understand if you said you want to keep the car "original", but my 02c would be to do the "major" hoses in Aeroquip - It's about the only thing that surpasses carbon fiber on the "coolnes scale" IMHO :)

As I said, just my 02c,
in any event, she's looking really nice,

    cheers,
    Ian

And that's not counting the fact that Aeroquip will outlast the car! :)

If you mean the stainless braided stuff, it's not really an option for a lot of them (no place for those AN fittings to screw on) The fakey-do hose covers that you see on cars that look like aeroquip really just hide the hose (you never know if their good or not). The blue silicone hoses with the OEM style worm clamps are first rate.

Yeah, that's the stuff - along with the absolutely *gorgeous* (IMO) red and blue anodized fittings......

And I'd have to respectfully disagree about the fittings - The OEM fittings are no smaller than the AN's - With some 'creative thinking' anyway :)

I actually went looking for some pix to try and illustrate the point - But found the following, which although it does have a little of what I'm talking about in hose terms just blew me away.... Enjoy :)

If you are going for the original look they never dabbed the yellow paint on the bell housing nuts and studs. That wire clamp holding the O2 sensor wires needs to be moved up one position. I see you have a new air injection check valve on one side and not the other. I would replace the remaining old one. It is a generic Chevy part and can be had very cheap. They rust out bad and will be trouble in the future.

Brian, the yellow is added to count it as its done and completed and too more forward to the next item. I am replacing all of it, just getting to it one step at a time.
    Thanks partner !!

Great job! How were the cast aluminum parts cleaned? Techniques and materials used would be helpful.

    Your engine looks great!!

Did you paint the wrinkle silver & red or did you have it powder coated?
If you painted it, it would be great if you could describe what brand/color of paints you used and any special techniques you may have employed.

    Thanks,

    Mark
