I was just advised that my 2014, less than 5000 mile 458 weeps a fews drops of oil from lower right engine timing cover, lower engine cradle. Not much in the body under pan...4" diameter oil spot. Has Anyone here had it happen to their car ? Does it get significantly worse ? Only a mild nuisance now and the $25K repair to drop motor and reseal, ect is not very appetizing to me at this point. I Plan on monitoring the situation during annual service. TIA

Sorry to hear that, but potentially something that is a non-issue. I had a Porsche that weeped when it sat for a while. The more I drove it, the smaller the oil drip. Is your weep due to low use or sitting for a while? If so, potentially could improve with more use.

Typical for any car not driven like it should be. This is why I never buy a super low mileage Ferrari. The cars need to be driven.

the oil weep is likely because of the low mileage, not in spite of it

I sent this to a good friend of mine because it sounded similar to a leak he had on his 2014 Spider (he probably had 35-40k miles on his car at the time, he has over 60k miles on his car now). I shared this with him and he indicated his leak sounds like it could have been a bit worse (he had more a puddle he said). He had his done as an engine out and was <$10k to repair, he did also say he’s heard some folks can do this on a coupe without engine removal.

Was your P-car air cooled?! All air cooled Porsche's weep at this age, like my current did once, until I had to have engine out / rebuild and all resealed.

I've never heard of this as an issue. I also bought mine w/ 4,400 on the clock 2.5 yrs ago and now am approaching 8k. Maybe at the factory, the cover was overtightened and compromised the gasket??

As I shopped for my 458 in recent months, Mike w Yellow Compass told me that 458s are currently hitting an age at which a variety of engine and trans seal-leaks are ever more likely. This was in the context of saying this is among the more important things to look for in a PPI. I got the impression that we should expect this to be a not-rare problem in the years ahead.

It was. ‘98 993. I didn’t rebuild/reseal as the car only had about 30k miles.
