So, over the last two months, I get, if I am lucky to get this much, a max of 4 hours of sleep per night. Not deep sleep, more the napping tossing and turning type. I got half an hour from 7-7:30am today, the day before 3 hours, maybe a total of I'd say 15 hours this week.

For almost a year now, when I am not cycling, I have had a mutated sleep pattern. Normally I could wake up without the aide of alarm at 7 every morning. Enough time to get in a morning ride before my day's duties. Since health reasons forbid me from cycling again for atleast another 6 months, or until tests say it is ok. I do 2 hour nightly walks past Newport Autosport, down around the Newport Beach and Crystal Cove areas, work out hard twice a week...

I was down on Balboa Peninsula having lunch today, admiring a yellow 360 spyder, and realizing that I am only half there for the mornings, but sharp as a whip the rest of the day. Even on no sleep.

Sominex, other sleep (some perscription) pills etc, have not helped, only made me feel really ill. It has been most pronounced over the last two months. Certainly is not psychological. I am pretty happy, loads of girls coming over, my baby cousin aka light of my life, is always coming to play, I don't need to have a job, so work related stress is out. I can't figure what it is.

I had this when I was younger, which was great in school/fire watch etc... but that was caused by use of 'training supplements' and my bloodwork seems ok.

Yup, same with me. I haven't been to sleep before 4 in a long time. Right now, I haven't slept since Wednesday night.

Consider seeing a doctor. You could have thyroid trouble or a variety of other important probs that an internist could pick up with an exam and a little blood work. Really.

Go to a health food store and get some Melatonin. I use the #3mg and take three tablets before bed. it works wonders. Try to stay out of bright light after taking as light for some reason will neutralize the effects.

How many hrs. of sleep per night were you getting back when things were "normal"? Some people can prosper w/ less than 8 (I'm not one of them, that's for sure). Did your sleep trouble begin when you stopped exercising? If not, I would bet SOMETHING changed in your life 1 year ago. Please report back to me at 0 2 hundred.

i've had insomnia for 20+yrs and really wonder if its going to kill me someday. it's been worse the last 2yrs since my son was born and now i have another on way 7-05'.

average is about 4-5hrs tossing and turning. the kicker is i don't sit still at all during the day, i can't it drives me nuts just to sit long enough to eat, heck i gotta stand while doing this. the "ADHD" as one doc puts it doesn't help. at least my house is always clean and the cars stay serviced very very routinely.

you name the drug i've tried it, one put me out for undederminend leangths of time, thats worse than the problem. so far i'm healthy and oddly not tired at night, just AVOID me in the AM!

muay thai???? is that like pad thai? I love those rice noodles.

Try being a normal slothfull American..... drink a case of bud light and eat half of a big freezer lasagna while watching some TV.... the light from the TV will help your body produce vitamin D which is essential to good health.... :D

I've mentioned this before in Insomnia threads. The miracle drug for my insomnia has been "Mirapex", which is prescribed for Parkinson's Disease patients. I had a severe case of the "jumpy arm/leg syndrome" which was forcing me to get by on less than 4 hours of sleep per night. Some nights I was getting less than 2 hours of sleep, and it was killing me.

The good thing is that the Mirapex works great and has no side effects. The bad thing is that I can't skip even one night taking my pill, or the original problem is back.

    Good luck with the problem!

    Reporting in at 2am PST...

I actually have had no change in my life what so ever in the last few months, and this is not the first time this has happened, but it certainly has lasted longer than any other periods of insomnia.

When things were normal, I could get naps and sleep deep sleep that is to say rested/refreshed afterwards. I have been known to sleep in for up to 10 hours, but I tried to give myself 6-8 per night and that was perfect for me. Aside from cycling and workouts, I have lived my life like the movie 'About a Boy' where I divide my time into units... lol

Seriously, I have not had a 9-5'r in 2 years, got quite comfortable with my freedoms. I think I need to start a new business, then maybe I'll have something to do with my time. Make a group of employees hate me, that is a fulltime gig!

I work for UPS, and attend school full time. am up from 2:30 or so AM until 10 or 11 pm most nights. One night a week I work my other job, from 9 pm until 2 am, so I run for far more than 24 hours. I guess I am young so it dosen't bother me, but I have never had a problem either way. I can sleep for a long time, or very little. When I first moved to college, I slept for like 15 minutes for the first month and felt fine. Just my .02, but you might want to see a specialist if you haven't already because for your sleep pattern to change that dramatically is not good, and without your control is not good.
