  1. I swear to god I searched and did not find anything, so here goes.

I know that plastic, like Lexan, does not take well to tinting (bubbling, overgas, etc.).

So I am curious whether any Pista owners (or owners of other cars with Lexan or Plexiglass) have tinted the Lexan piece over the engine cover? If so, what were the results? Recommend? Or no bueno?

    Thank you.

(And, yeah, if there's already a 100 page discussion on this, please just point me that way.)

I've tinted a few cars and also just recently removed some tint from my pickup truck.

I'm no expert, but I think the issue probably relates mainly to the glue used with most tint film. When I removed the window tinting from my truck (recently), there was a horrific chemical glue smell. Of course, when that glue comes into contact with glass, it just dries out and adheres to the glass - so no problem. However, if it came into contact with plastic, I suspect it would have a more sever chemical reaction with the Lexan; it might etch into the Lexan surface.

Have you considered looking into plastic dying agents? You might be able to create some sort of light grey wash, which would dye the plastic enough to give it a tinted window look?

I can’t speak from experience but I always presumed the high temperature of the engine bay would make any film a bad idea

Silly question but why would you tint the lexan window??? It would block the view of the engine. Just tint the small window behind the seats and it will block the sun into the cabin.
