I'm out on a drive a couple weekends ago and my friend who was trailing me mentioned that every time I hammered the gas a tiny puff of blue smoke would come out of the pipes. I have a couple ideas on what could be causing the problem but wanted to get your guys inputs. The 308 is a carbed car with electromotive ignition.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks
    Nick

Check that all the crankcase vent and hoses are clear of blockage. If they're OK, inspect the plugs for oil and check compression. If compression is OK, suspect worn valve guides.

For what it is worth, when we purchased our 82 308 I was freaked by the posts about the sodium valves letting go. Having 0 F-car experience and after a clean comp. test I pulled the motor and changed out the sodium EX valves for SS. The valves were so loose I could wiggle them but since this car was on my bucket list (get the drift) I installed new valve seals and buttoned her up. I have put over 5K on the clock with never a wisp of smoke. I am totally amazed by this since I have the time I planned on replacing the guides the winter after we bought her. That was three years ago and I just filled her to the brim for the winter and will run her until I see smoke. Purely accidental but I thought it was worth passing on. Needless to say your results ,if doing the same, may not be as positive. Lost
