I do not transport an exotic across the country often, so I am wandering what the etiquette is for tipping the driver hauling my new toy from Texas to California. What amount, if any, have you guys forked over?
I am told it is coming tomorrow at 10 am !

    Thanks in advance

If I'm happy with the service I usually give the driver $20 or $30.If I'm unhappy=zippo.

I've tipped as much as fifty bucks, depending on timliness, care with the car, and driver's attitude.

I tipped $100 for a car transported from New Jersey to California. There were two drivers and they made the trip in four days. They also called me twice each day to update me on their location. They were really grateful. They used the money to buy World Series tickets to see the Angles play.

I usually tip $100 if pleased with driver and their care of my car. If not, less.

I need to call FNA to see if they even care about things like that.

When we had the Ferraris taken to Oregon from SF, we tipped $100/car, and the same on the reverse trip. Concours gave us great service, and we thought we hadn't tipped him enough.

It seems to me that if you are entrusting your exotic car, worth $100,000-200,000 or more to a transporter, and they deliver on time, safely, and without incident, 100. is pretty cheap

Where's Jonathan P when we need him?

I would say that $100 per car per trip is about right, coming from someone who used to be a doorman/valet at a 4 star hotel... $10-$20 tip for keeping the car out front was the right thing to do in that situation, so 5x for getting your car across country safely seems about right.

    But what do I know.

They should...but then again, who knows. I'd say it's definitely still worth a call. Even if you can get a coupon for a discount on parts/service or something, it's better than nothing.

Let's say the transport charge is $2000. If you tip $100, that's 5%! You'd tip a bad waitress more than 5%.

    But what do I know.

I did $50, which seemed to (pleasantly) surprise him, so I think it was OK.
