Alright, the new F-Car is due here TOMORROW..can barely contain myself...wow...but here's a brief etiquette question:

Do you tip your auto transporter?

If so, how much is appropriate?

I always give the driver $50. Sometimes my wife gives them a care food package if they are on the go.

When we got our 1948 chrysler from intercity shipped we tipped the guy IIRC like $50, and he was very good and helpful. To bad we sold that car :(

The towing place is across the street from the dealer I use. There is a small bunch of guys there and word gets around as to who tips and how much.

    $50 is about right.

If above and beyond the call of duty, i. e. rush job, warming it up so you can take it for a spin, putting it in your garage, etc. then more would be proper.

    Just my tow cents.

If you are pleased with the company, pleased with the driver, and you might use them again, nothing less than $100.00.

It is very cheap insurance to ensure the safe arrivals!

In the scheme of things what's $100.00? most people spend more than that on their DirecTV monthly satellite bill!

The real question is how much do you tip Brian Crall?

Then again, has anyone ever seen Brian Crall tipsy?

My driver took real good care of my F355B during its cross country drive. He kept me appraised of his location and when he got close, he asked me for the best time and route to bring in the transporter. He was very professional and personable. As we parted, I put $100 in his hands and felt good about it. Next time I have to ship the car cross country for an event on the other coast, I'd use him again ... :)

Christmas of '05 when I got my Barchetta. I tipped the driver $100. But it was Christmas week and he did a great job! (communication, Cleanliness, and on Time.)

I think it works the same way all over the world. It all depends on how much you appreciate his job and how much smile you want to put on his face, or if you want the same service from same guy again in future. If the average tip is $50, then double the average is to ensure quality and fast work in future...

    Encouraging to read the responses.

Think of what really $100.00 is in the scheme of things.

Shoot, you have to slip Brian Crall that much just to get your car into his shop!
