This Tipo 26, chassis #044 (ex-Whitney Straight), currently owned by a German Industrialist and exhibited in the RETRO CLASSICS in Stuttgart/D, is now for sale!

Asking price is insane: 3,8 Million Euro!!!!!

Oh I really like it in black Walter. It looks so very different than what we're used to.
    Autographed by Darth Vader perhaps?
Can you handle the purchase for me I'm just so busy right now ... ;>)

Those double rear wheels are a bit odd looking but I suppose it was the only way to get more rubber on a car back then?

I'd love to see someone changing rear tires just to see how the whole thing works.

I remember watching Nick Soprano work on his 450S in the pits and looking at all that gorgeous brake hardware as they discussed what to do about some problem they had.

A video footage of the car with Alain De Cadenet:

Here is a pic that confirms the double-tyres-specs, here first owner Whitney Straight in the Shelsy-Walsh-hillclimb in 1933.

The Tipo 26 M and MM are -IMO- the most beautiful cars from the early 30ies and much better looking than the -more successfull!- Alfa 8C`s 2.3 and 2.6!

Well it does look more elegant with the single tires. So does anyone really know if the dual tires was a factory modification at that time or just a change made by the owner?

It was made by Whitney Straight who also converted the car to a pre-sepector gearbox the car still has today.

The car was entered by Whitney Straight in the Swedish Winter Trails in Febr. 1932. He was a DNF as he crashed the car.

Every Italian car is wonderful to drive on loney streets in Tuscany (for example!).
