    This is disgraceful !!!

    For years I've been saying that tipping in the US is pathetic, not the idea of tipping for exceptional service, but the idea that the patron is expected to pay the staff's wages !!!

    Like WTF !!!

    Pay your employees the right wage, I'm not suppose to be paying your staff because you're too tight .

    I also got the shjts big time when I went on my first and ONLY cruise to Alaska, trip was great, people lovely, hate ships of any size but my one big hate for the trip was the compulsory tipping adding to the bill for every day to supplement the crew's wages.

    I think the GG boyz gave a $300 tip or some such amount on one night but the staff deserve something for putting up with them :)

    Bottom line here is that getting patrons to pay YOUR staff's wages is thightarse behaviour by rich CLINTS dodging THEIR resonsibility.

    Neralee and I often tip staff at restaurants when the service is prompt, correct, cheerful and generally a pleasure to interact with but I absolutely refuse to be bullied into paying someone else's staff

    WUTY and pay people a living wage

    I'm not saying our form of tipping is perfect, but you just saw what happens when corporations try to make you have a better guest experience. Once the servers can't earn at a place, they leave. What do you think happens next??? Robot servers and bartenders are coming soon.

    Ned Kelly would be eaten alive by the guy that added the fees on that tab.

    Totally, when was the last time you saw a casino give you back 20% of your loses ?

    Mind you, back in the old days when my dad took me to illegal casinos in Sydney, if you won big you always paid the owner a "tip" to get home safely :)

    Having been to The States many times both for business and holidays (Arizona 6 times) .

    I understand fully the reasons for the tipping % and WHY staff crack it when the correct % is not left as gratuitous.

    Perhaps before you mouth off, understand the taxation reasons WHY!
