Greetings! I am embarrassed to say how long the "little job" of replacing the injectors on my '84 QV Cabriolet has taken. Long ago, I replaced the outer two on the rear bank; today, I got at the two in the middle by removing the throttle body. Halfway done! Then it's on to the front bank. How the heck am I supposed to get to the front injectors? There's a big structural metal bar that the engine bonnet/hood bolts to and it is right above the injectors. Sneaking in between the plenum and that bar is virtually impossible. I've removed the access panel in the back seat, but that's not much help either. I even wondered if perhaps my engine were "drooping" on the engine mounts and could be tilted back a few degrees, so I tried gently putting a jack under the front of the engine to see if I could tilt it back just a smidge. I THINK that made a bit of a difference -- a degree or two -- and it just let me access the left side front injector. So that's 5 down and 3 to go, but the two in the middle just seem impossible...I've unthreaded the fuel line from the injector (from inside the car), but I don't think I can fit my injector removal tool in there....there must be a better way! I have watched "The Messenger" on Youtube, but he has a coupe, and it looks like the coupes have a couple more inches of space (bigger engine cover?) At this point, I think I'm going to remove the plenum to have better access to that front bank of injectors, and yes, I've seen videos on removing the plenum as well. It doesn't look too bad.

So, has anyone here actually replaced their fuel injectors on a QV Cabriolet with the engine in the car? What's the secret? Does the plenum need to come out?

    Thank you!

Funny -- yesterday, I tried every combination of search terms I could think of here on ferrarichat and couldn't find any relevant posts. So tonight, I go to google and try
"mondial cabriolet injector replacement", which got me this 15 year-old thread:

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/removing-injectors-in-mondial.256909/

Sounds like he had as much trouble as I am having; he tried to remove the plenum, but couldn't get the plenum off because his injector pipes were in the way -- catch-22. He took off his deck lid and still had a horrible time of it, but that may be where I'm headed tomorrow.

I don’t know if it’s the same set up but on my 84 308QV, I needed to clean all my injectors and since my in take plenum needed refinishing, I just removed the plenum and all the injectors came out easy.

This image from the several-years-old thread does a great job of showing how tight the space is. That's the deck lid flipped up, clearing the plenum by about an inch, and a piece of the body (chassis? frame? immovable bar of metal) in front of (to the left of) the plenum in this photo. Well, technically, there's a pipe screwed to the body. I've moved that out of the way, but there's still basically no room in there. And the original post says that he can't get out the plenum because the tubes to the injectors block access to the nuts holding on the plenum. :) Later, the OP removes the deck lid, giving him the amount of access you see in the 2nd picture.

I've had jobs on cars before (clutch replacement, maybe?) that suggested tilting the engine by loosening an engine mount and jacking up on the engine. Honestly, if I could get the engine to pivot back just a couple of degrees, it would open up this little crack and give me more space to work with. I've removed one of the bolts from the "dogbone" engine stabilizer on the back of the engine and gently jacked on the front, but it didn't seem to make any difference. I'll have to further scrutinize to see if there's another stabilizer on the front of the engine, or something else I can easily remove to let the engine rock back. Other ideas?

I have a 3.2 Cab. I removed the deck lid, the aluminum coolant pipe that runs across and removed all front injectors that way. See attached picture.
