I haven't participated in any Ferrari judging events, but with the purchase of my most recent car, I'm considering it. I did a search figuring similar threads would appear, but was unsuccessful, so I'm wondering if anyone could direct me towards threads that pertain, or links. Figuring that if I'm going to do this, I want to go for a Platinum. Thanks in advance.

For Ferrari it is only about originality. I came in second with my 458 only because the one competitior had taken off the original valve stem cover and used the ones with the Ferrari crest therefore the car is not original. Samething for floor mats must be original. All this originality issue are more appropriate for older cars because the car has to start and everything has to work. For the newer cars it is more of a beauty contest with originality issue.

For Porsche Concourse it is about originality and cleaning. The car has to appear exactly how it left the factory when it was born. So cleaning is critical.

Just do your first event. You'll be given the recipe there and the next go around will be for the real results.

I would echo some of the replies already posted. I just took a Platinum this year at Cavallino with my 360 Spider. I can tell you that they are in fact looking for ORIGINALITY. No aftermarket anything. Original mats, original valve stem covers, all books, tools, etc etc. The car must show functionality as well. Everything should work from the A/C to the radio, clock, lights, horn, etc. Condition of the car is important too. Points will not be deducted if the car has a few rock chips etc but those chips should be addressed (i.e. with touch up paint). Also remove license plate frame from the dealer. Just put plate by itself. Any paper documentation is helpful (window sticker, build sheet etc) showing the originality even though on the guidelines it states they aren't important. Don't shine the tires, just put rubber dressing that makes them look naturally clean (e.g. Griots Vinyl and Rubber dressing). Detail the car and engine compartment obviously. If you have any further questions please feel free to PM me. Be prepared though (I have OCD :)

We are specifically told to ignore license plate frames as long as they are not some art object that detracts from the car. Documentation is only needed to support a claim that something unusual is original like a Queen Mother with a sunroof. Points will be taken off however if the owners manual, dealer network book and Warranty manual are not present.
