This summer we are doing a 2 day track course in the 296 at the Fiorano circuit. It is my first real track experience.

Did anyone use a 296 on a track? Any tips how to prepare? I've been practicing the course in simulation (Project Cars 3) and 296 in Assetto Corsa Evo and drive my 296 GTS regularly on the road, but not on a track. Is ESC and/or traction control off on a track?

I'am going on the 16th of July. Normally you can only use your own car at the end of the course with some restrictions I suppose (instructor on board, etc.).

During the course you normally use the race mode.

Ah, I'll be there June 27/28
During normal road driving, I don't really notice much difference between regular and race mode.
Btw, do you think we can make pictures on the track (I know we cannot take pictures at the factory tour).

In race mode the "safety net" (traction control, stability control and so on) takes control later; it's noticeable on track whereas on the road, typically you don't push enough to trigger anything even in road mode.
