I have a couple questions for you F owners. I just finished my college program in Architectural Tech and I am now working for a civil eng firm.
I know it doesn't always come down to "what do you do for a living to own a Ferrari?!". I can see why it bothers many Ferrari owners as well. I know that I don't make alot of money right now however I do want to get into investing, stocks etc.

Also if I decided to go to university to further my education in architecture then I can eventually become a 'certified' architect and be able to run a business. (yes I do realize starting a business is very tough and not nearly as easy as people want it to be)
Right now I have a diploma, not a degree. I don't care if having a degree gives me more respect; just as long as I can find success in whatever way is most efficient. I don't care if I look like a bigshot or not, just as long as I can live comfortably with a decent car or two ;).

I also know that where I currently work has great people and that I can eventually earn decent money if I step up to the plate and take on more responsibilities. (which I want to do)

This may seem even a bit naive as I'm only 22 and still have no idea...about many things haha.

I know this is a bit off topic and that I do not own a Ferrari. I'm not trying to come off as ****** or to annoy anyone.

Anyways, If it does annoy/piss anyone off then I apologize; and hopefully it will get deleted or locked.

These threads don't annoy me at all...they inspire.

There are several architects on this site that own Ferraris.

I'll get this out of the way because it is true.

Do what you love and be the best at it and think and dream big. All the Ferrari's you'll ever want will follow.

I think you will find more Ferrari owners own their own business than any other occupation - so if you have an entrepreneurial spirit then you should learn a profession or trade and become really good at it and have a awesome resume/portfolio and then start up your own firm.

I am constantly thinking of new ways to make money or new business ideas that might be the next big thing. I think it is only a matter of time before I find something that works for me and makes me money...in fact I think I've already stumbled upon something.

Good luck and make sacrifices early to have it pay off later.

edit: fill out your profile and let people know more about you.

Welcome aboard and IMO you have struck the right tone with your post.

I studied architecture as well but used the training to enter the construction field instead, as the 5 years to work before testing for AIA credentials was not attractive.

I'd say your path would be thru a nice large firm where you could learn at the knee of a good principal and watch some big stuff go up. Resume building, as it were......;)

A friend I taught to CAD/CAM now is in Hawaii........and I am instead in Galveston!! Oh well.

I always thought this was good advice in life, "Find a mentor, and also be a mentor."

We have some pretty established architects here as you might suspect, maybe one will chime in....well done on accomplishing your credential!

My favorite uncle was trained at Rice Unversity, was AIA for many years ...now retired to sculpture and casting.

He drove a Dino246 before moving on to other cars, folks expect there designers to be stylish!!! ;)

Me personally, I resemble more the "My contractor drives a Ferrari!" thread........sometimes not so good. LOL!

So I hide my three Ferraris and instead toodle around town in a Toyota truck with construction debris in the bed, and a roll of prints and a pile of hardhats and tools in the passenger seat...

But my clients who know me well see the sandbagging, I give them a ride if they ask.......;)

Hehe. Thanks for the replies so far. You guys are a helluva lot more respectful than the Subaru owners forum...

I know alot of people out there view Ferrari's as a social status symbol. Annoying really. I view most Ferrari owners as gearheads who appreciate a quality car.

I'm also gearhead and can list off stats to pretty much any Ferrari and other high end cars that I enjoy. Call me a wannabe I suppose...having F t-shirts, Ferrari puma shoes, 1:18 scale models, etc. Maybe one day I'll complete the collection...

Anyways thanks for the inspirational words.

Fchat is a great group. We're especially nice if you refrain from coming on here & telling us "what our problem is" and how a Nissan looks better than a Ferrari, as many new members tend to do.

    Welcome!

Just be ambitious, creative, learn and grow. I have a few friends that, if they wouldn't have settled for an easy life, could have MORE of a Ferrari than I have. Well, that isn't true... the 348 Spider is all anyone could hope for ;)

as an architect and f-car owner, i can definately relate to your self examination...i know becoming a licensed architect is a grueling process (5 years school, 3 years apprenticeship then a killer exam), it is absolutely worth it...architecture has to be the most rewarding profession in the world as you are creating things that will last far beyond your own lifetime...if we have learned anything from history, we know that of all the ancient buildings extant we remember only two names associated with them...the name of the ruler who ordered it and the name of the architect who designed it...i say, go for it...
