Need a recommendation for best in Charlotte area to do a tire balancing.

My 348 might be missing a weight? Rim looks like one may have been attached and now is missing. Noticed vibration at higher speed that wasn;t there before. Also - no idea what weight needs to be added.

    Thanks!

Any shop with a Hunter GSP 9600 or GSP 9700 RoadForce machine would be the best. If you check the Hunter website, I believe they have a store locator.

Would definitely recommend a dealer with one the RoadForce machines. Obviously, even with these machines though, the operator can obviously dictate whether or not it's perfect.

More importantly, find a shop with a Haweka flange plate adapter. This method of securing the wheel on the balancer is much more precise than the typical centering cone attachment. It'll also give you far greater repeatablity.

The Hunter Road Force machines (especially the early ones) are a bit overhyped in my opinion. I have a pair of Cemb balancers (a C75 and a K10) in my home garage workshop. In all fairness, I suspect the GSP 9700 has gotten a lot better over the years but I'd still use a flange adapter to mount the wheels.

I like Cemb for balancers and Corghi (especially the Artiglio Master) for changers. SD

Good to know. I'm not familiar with the Haweka flange you speak of, would like to learn more about that.

This system allows hubcentric mounting (as on your car)of the wheel onto the balancer. Most companies that manufacture wheel balancers (they all seem to be located in the same small area in Italy) offer Haweka adapters as accessories. If your Hunter shop is doing the balancing, see if they have the proper adapter for your car. Its been awhile since I looked at these machines....perhaps Haweka is now standard equipment since the following warning appears on Haweka's site......

"IMPORTANT INFORMATION: It is absolutely vital to use Flange Plate adaptors on the GSP 9700 to avoid mounting errors when using the road simulation roller and the Matching program. The GSP 9700 simply does not work reliably without the wheel being properly centered. Color coded Flange Plate adaptor centers and torque's the wheel onto the wheel balancer in the same manner the wheel will centered and torqued onto the vehicle."
