Tire Overinflation while Sitting Long Term

I used to inflate to 40 psi for the winter months. I got lazy this year and didn’t. I just drove it for the first time after 5 months of sitting, which is the longest ive ever not driven it for. No flat spots, no problems. I’m not going to bother with overinflating going forward.

 

I inflate my 550's tires (Michelin MP4S) to 45 psi as part of my winter storage routine and check them several times during the next 4 (or so) months of hibernation. I think it helps somewhat, but honestly, flat spotting isn't that big of a deal anyway. In my experience most tires will de-flat spot after about 1/2 hour of driving.

 

It also matters a lot the tire you are using.

Softer compounds tend to flat spot faster but drive out fast spots quickly too.
