Just wondering if it's a coincidence or not but since the cold weather
arrived in the Boston area the tire pressure service light goes on after
starting. If after driving a little while I stop and restart the car the light goes off.Any thoughts ?

What car do you have? If you push the appropriate button on the dash that moves the info screen to the next window you will see actual tire pressures being measured by the sensors. Once you get underway the tires will heat up and the psi will rise. However, you should have your tires correctly inflated when cold and it is possible that your tires are a bit underinflated,
The 599 shows not only the tire psi but the tire temp as well.

When it's cold the psi lowers as you drive it rasies. Try inflating tires to proper COLD psi.

That happens to me too sometimes in F-car as well as others. If you fill to "Cold" tire pressure when its 10 degrees outside, is it possible that they will have too much pressure once temps go above freezing?

Also I've had faulty tire valves that can cause trouble for TPMS.

try nitrogen in the tires.. no water molecules making it unable to expand in heat.. :)

I think the correct psi should be set at cold.
correct me if I am wrong please

I had the exact same problem. warmer weather / car = ok. cold = never ending service light. tires were at proper cold temp and the system was "calibrated" (ie. the pressure was set and the button was pushed) at ferrari of atlanta.

problem never went away and one of the service guys told me that it was probably a faulty sensor or dead battery in a sensor - even though they are supposed to last for much longer.

I check my tire pressure frequently anyway so I had them just disable the system.

I have the same problem. At service yesterday, scan showed error code for rt rear. Probably bad battery. I didn't have the time to have the tire dismounted and change the battery so I don't know for sure. Another dealer told me that a bad ecu can cause a similar service light. (ecu is ~ $1,400 for the part..yikes)
