I cant seem to locate my manual, so how much PSI should i set on my 997 C4S ?

    32 front and 36 rear ?

How much influence does the pressure have on the handling? Since getting these new tires, i cant help but think it doesnt handle as good as with the Michelin.

what tires did you end up buying?

I ran mine at 32/35. I think the manual said 32/37 or something like that

I got the Hankook. I was on the highway this week end and the car was much more sensible to wind than before. I dropped the pressure and it did feel a little better but on fast corners (65-75mph) it felt very soft and not tight at all. I'll drop it to 32/35 (im at 33/36).

could be the taller tread blocks.

I have a set of Hankooks on order for the Gt3, as I needed a cheap set of tires for a long (~2,000 mile) road trip to Cali; no point buying a new set of PS2's for that. I'll report back with my impressions.

Look inside your gas filler lid or door jamb.......there should be a sticker there with PSI.

I don't think you would be able to tell the difference with a 1 psi change.
It sounds like you are on the low side though. I think spec is ~35F/~40+R

But anyway as a general rule of thumb, underinflated should result in worse cornering. Overinflated increased tread wear and bumpier ride. Please report what you figure out.

Mine is 34/39 but it's turbo, 34/36 for a C4S sounds about right

okay, I've done STL-Denver (~800 miles) on the Hankooks, through some very strong crosswinds, and yes the car is much more unstable in crosswinds now then with the PS2s. I think it is a combination of the taller (thicker) tread blocks and a smaller contact patch due to the tread design.

otherwise, I like the tires, they seem to have pretty good lateral grip and braking/acceleration is much improved (my PS2's were the original tires, six years old and pretty damn hard). quiet on the road, too...at least, not louder than the exhaust ;)

we'll see how they change as the tread depth decreases. I imagine they'll get a bit more stability in crosswinds.

PS I was running 32/37, spec for the car is 32/39 (I find the factory specs are too high on the rear).

    further update on the Hankooks-

made it to LA, so I now have ~2k miles on the tires. wear is very good-I can't tell any noticeable wear, impressive given high average speeds (avg cruise of 85-90, with many quick blasts to 140-160mph, gotta love the desert) and very high ambient and road temps (ambient temps over 100 for most of the last 750 miles or so).

still a bit of crosswind issues, but the tires were solid at speed, I was very impressed.

down side I discovered today, the tires don't like grooved pavement, as seen on every freeway in southern California. oops.

I did my first trip with them (to Road America) and it just confirmed that the car is very much subject to crosswinds or uneven pavement. Much more than the Michelins. The car also feels much more soft (and comfortable which is ok for my wife..).

I did a few speed testing (up to 140mph) and the first time, it was almost scary but then i realized i had my sunroof and one window open, so im thinking this played a role as the second and 3rd time, the car was more stable.

So ill see how long they last but unless they last 2x as much as the michelin, i will go back to the PS2.

I did some aggressive driving today in the hollywood hills (Mulholland, etc) and the grip isn't bad, but not on the same level as the PS2's (or even the Pzero's I had on my 997). I agree, when the Hankooks are done I'll go back to the Michelin's.
