What are you guys running for tire pressures? I know this topic has been discussed before and a search revealed two threads discussing this topic back in 2004. There seemed to be many different recommendations but no apparent concensus. To summarize, the Michelin TRX tire is stamped with max pressures at 36 psi, the 512 BBi manual states 43 PSI, and Amerispec recommends 38 PSI on cars they federalized. It seems the only truly accurate method to find out the correct tire pressures is to operate the car at the target speed for several minutes to stabilize the temperature through the tire carcus, stop and read 3 temperatures on all 4 tires (12 measurements). The tire is correctly inflated for that driving condition when the middle reading is the average of the outer and inner readings. If the pressure is to high, the middle temperature will be hotter than the average of the inner and outer. If the pressure is too low, the middle temperature will be lower than the average of inner and outer. Any new ideas or opinions? Thanks.
With the michelins I used to run 35 front and 36 rear. Less than 35 and the steering was to heavy and lacking in delicay. Much above that and the ride on NE rods beat up the car too much. The rears run harder so in theory they break away after the fronts. Basicaly higher ie up to 40 is better but you lower presure so that the ride is survivable on expansion joints etc.
