I bought and installed 360 wheels and tires on my 348tb. They look great but the rar tire seems to rub when I hit bumps on the road. The tire has a rubbing mark. This only happens when I drive aggressively and hit rough roads. I was told these wheels fit, why the rubbing, is it because I have a EURO model?? there suspension softer, any explainations or ideas. The tires at rear are 275x40x18, was 255x40x17
Are you using spacers? I had to take the spacers off that were behind my stock wheels. I have the same wheels as you but my fronts are 215-45-18 Are you sure you have 17s on the front?
There are no spacers, car is a euro stock with 17's but now have 18's and yes my fronts are the same 215-45-18, it's the rear that rub
My rears are very close to the front of the wheel well opening but no where else. Maybe your car sits lower. Could you take a picture of it from the side? we can compare.
The US cars had a bigger offset on the rear wheels to give the later model 348 a wider track. Maybe the euro models used longer drive shafts? what was the offset on your stock 348 rear wheels? BT
I am not sure what the stock 348 wheel's offset were but they seemed quite recessed as the US stock model. The height between the tires and rear panel seems ok, 2-3 inches. It seems closer toward front of the panel but the ubbing is happening at the top. Maybe the streets are real bad but it shouldnt drop that much??
No, they increased the offest by adding material to the inside of rims, kind of like permanent spacers. They didn't do anything to widen the actual suspension. The only diffence on the axles was going to a sealed CV joint on the wheel side of the shaft, the length stayed the same.
You probably are not running much negative camber, so the wheels don't tip in, they are more straight up and down. Whoever owned the car last probable had it aligned that way. This is good for helping to reduce the tires wearing out on the inside, but it takes away from handling. The stock springs aren't too stiff too give a more comfortable ride, but this let's the suspension travel more, and also reduces handling. You can have the insides of the fenders "rolled", or put in stiffer springs, or dial in some more negative camber.
I have a problem with fronts only. I was told to get the fenders "Rolled" to stop the bumping problem and hitting/denting the fender. I have only had it happen at two places near where i live. In each spot there is a big dip in the road. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Angelo, You have to mount the wheels with a bit more negative camber, and also have your fenders rolled slightly. It is a very easy and cheap procedure that I had done with my stock 360 when I put Novitec wheels on it.
I will look into the negative camber, rolling ??? not to sure, who would qualify, a body shop??? By the way the wheels look great, I can email you pics.
Definitely email some pics. Any good body shop will know exactly what fender rolling is. It's a very quick procedure that will stop the rubbing by giving you a bit more clearance.
