    Hey Crew -

My mom bought a new Nissan Rogue and the tires are junk - anybody recommend a good overall tire for MN ( snow in winter ) ?

    Thanks

I bought Yokohama ice guards for my WRX and they have been great. I’ve driven through many snow storms with no issue and also a few ice storms. I drove my 14 mile commute from work last winter on absolutely sheer ice and while it was a very slow ride I made it. They also aren’t overly loud if you keep them on in the off season.

I have had Michelin CrossClimate2 on several different vehicles so far, they are hard to beat. If mom just wants to install one set of tires and go, these seem like the solution.

Other than on glare ice, they don't give up much to a full winter tire and are wear has been great.

It is hard to go wrong with a set of Michelins.

If actually a "new"(?) vehicle (under full warranty, etc) as implied and tires can be proven to be "junk", I would talk to the dealership and demand better quality replacements (in different brand ?).
    But that's just me.

If your mom is driving in a good amount of snow, just get a spare set of cheap wheels and put a set of Nokian Hakkapeliitta tires on them. There's no substitute for quality dedicated snow tires for areas with harsher winters.
