Hi Community! It's time to replace the tires on my `99 550 M. Any recommendations on size (other than stock) and brand? Currently have P Zeros on there with no complaints.

I'm fascinated by the number of Ferrari owners who seek long life in their tires. I haven't had enough experience with my Michelin Pilot Super Sports to discuss wear, but they do have better grip than the Pirelli P Zeros.

+1 Tread life is pretty irrelevent considering how few miles the typical F-car gets per year. Old rubber is probably a bigger issue than bald rubber. Also, in my experience, tires are about the cheapest and most predictable expense of owning a 12 cylinder Ferrari.

Not on mine. About $650 for the front and $900 on the rear...but I'm not running stock wheels. I'm on my fourth pair in front and third in back since 2008...approximately 17,000 miles.

So it comes to about $1000/year of operation. If that's a big chunk of your annual F-car expenditures, I congratulate you on your good fortune. I just had to unexpectedly replace a coolant temp sensor and sender last month and that was a grand because they were so hard to get to, even though the parts themselves were cheap. Everyone here knows my other problem$ and adventure$.

I don't want to jinx myself, but all I did last year was buy tires and change fluids. Hopefully that will be the case this year again. Oh, I replaced some brake lines for about $12.

Dave, you have NF2s, right? From where are you sourcing the rear 355s?

DT- Pirelli builds them mostly for Novitec whenever the supply runs low. Last time they pumped out the 355/25 19s was 2008. Since that is pushing six years, it may be time for a new run. If you do find some NOS tires in that size, make sure and check the build date.

Mine has them, too. Some owners are fitting Michline PSS tires and using 345/30 19s on the rear. Does not seem to affect the ABS, even though they are nearly an inch larger in diameter.

Pirelli has not made a run of 355/25/19s since 2008. They will not make another one until Novitec returns the molds to Pirellli and pays to have another run made. Novitec owns the molds. No new run is expected until the warehouse full of 355/25/19s that Novitec stocks in Germany is empty. Your sole source for these tires is Novitec. Contact your local rep...or you can do what I did. Switch to nice fresh 345/30/19s in Michelin Super Sports for about $200 less per tire.

Thanks Taz and Dave, yah, the reason I asked is because I noticed when I got the NF2s last year that the PZeros were built in the first half of 2008 . . . =/ I don't care if they've been UV shielded in a dark warehouse, etc. for all this time, I don't think it's a good idea to install tires that are 5 years old . . .

BTW, the Pirelli people here in Japan did not believe me at first when I told them that the tires I'm looking to replace are Pirellis, I had to send them a photo of the sidewall info to get them to understand my situation, so I doubt they'd be much help. I'll look into going PSS, thanks again.

I just bought two 255/35/19 and two 305/30/19 p zeros from tirerack. How do I know if these have been sitting around or are fresh?
