    How hard would it be to do a chain or gear drive configuration for the V-8 motors ? Seems it would need an enclosed cover/casing with lubricated gears/chain vs the exposed belt. A chain seems easier vs several gears to go from the crank to the camshafts.

    then you would get tired of the noisy timing chain issue

    Then anyone could afford to maintain an F-car, and they wouldn't be unique anymore.

    The issue is going to be the chain tensioner.
    The chain is going to be LONG, and you will need a way to compensate for wear as well as temperature related growth.

    the f430 has a chain no?

    has anyone looked in the kevlar belts? they are puported to have longer life/strenght.

    i dont think its as much the belts , its the tensioners that fail , and the oil dripping on them from the cam seals shortens life! :)

    That may be, but retrofitting and designing with a blank piece of paper are two different things.
