I am hoping someone can recommend a set of tires for my 550 Maranello. I blew a rear tire yesterday and I might as well replace all four tires, since the others show wear at 6700 miles.

My car came with Bridgestones S-02. I also note the manual also recommends Michelins. However, I cant find a set of matched Michelins on the Tire Rack inventory of tires.

I thank you for your suggestions.

I've got Michelins Pilot Sports on mine. They seem to last well, they weren't new when I bought the car and I've done 5,000 miles on them myself. Since I have no experience with other tyres I can't say whether they're any better or not but so far I'm happy.

The exact type of them I can check for you when I'm back in my country - I'm picking up my car again in a week's time (wahey!).

Running Michelin Pilot Sports PS2 from Tire Rack in street use for 9 months and they are just fine.

BTW, my only gripe about Tire rack is that their on-line search tool for Ferrari is not entirely accurate. As an example, if you select "Ferrari" and then "1999" or "2000" you won't get "550 Maranello" as an option. Select "1998" and "550 Maranello" and you see a full selection of tires including Michelin Pilot Sports PS2 (in-Stock) and Bridgestone S-02 (Low Stock).

    Good luck!!

Coachi, the S02 tires have a treadwear of 140 and the PS2 is a 220. The higher treadwear will last longer and the PS2 is a fantastic tire. Its a nice quiet tire that handles exceptional.

GMP works direct with Michelin as a custom performance shop and I was actually invited over to Spain for the PS2 tire launch in 2004. We compared the PS2 to the S03 in equally prepared AC Scnitzer M3's. The PS2 was faster, smoother and did not feather.

If you need tires, let me know. We are located in Charlotte, NC and I see you are in SC. If its not too far, we could do the install for you. We use the Hunter Road Force equipment for the best possible balance.

I am in the office today setting up a few forum accounts. I just sent an email to the site administrator so I hope I am not infringing on anything by posting this reply.

    Best Regards,
    Stephen

Please tell us more about your experience of BF Goodrich KDW2 on a 550 - how did they compare to other tires you tried. Wear rate, ride comfort, traction, cornering, etc.
I use them on my Mustang Cobra but I have never tried them on a 550.
    Thanks,
    Ron

I'm very picky when it comes to tires. My favorite for the money used to be the Good Year Egle F1 GSD3 which I installed on my Lotus V8 last year.

Now, this year I had to buy a set for my F355. Turns out the factory Pirell Pzero Assimetrico's were discontinued, so the Tire Rack salesman talked me into the NEW Pzero. They were quite expensive but WOW, they stick like glue, ride quiet, and look good. Further the sales guy told me the results at that time hadn't been published yet but that they were *superior* to all other tires tested in their survey. Trust me they are THAT good!

Besides there is just something about Pirelli/Ferrari they just kind of go together......

    'My 2 cents
