I was looking to put some slicks on my R500 Superlight. Other than the Avon tires on the Caterham website, does anyone know where I can get tires? The OEM tires are 175/55 13 for the fronts and 205/55 13 for the back.

Roger Kraus Racing (www.rogerkrausracing.com) is a good source and has good prices stateside because they bring in containers of tires. You can get Hoosier or Avons from them in a variety of sizes and compounds. Did you guys ever figure out your low oil pressure light at idle? I sold my R500 to Justin Heil but I have a new one on the way, should be here in a few weeks. Nothing else compares, at least on the street.

After calling Roger Kraus and Ben at Caterham USA, I opted for Hoozier R6's. 185/60 up front (up from 175/55) and 225/60 in the back (up from 205/55). The Avon CR500's last 8 track days.

We installed a "dummy" oil pressure light that comes on if it goes below 20 psi as a back-up for the still faltering Stack oil pressure sender which has already been replaced to no avail.

Otherwise, the R500 is fantastic. Quick as crap. Handling so predictable. No driver aides whatsoever. I am still not the measure of the car but I am having a blast learning.

Just read my reply after posting it....sheesh. No wonder I need a secretary. It's "Hoosier" not "Hoozier" and the Avons "lasted" not "last."

There's probably more errors. My apologies.

Just to follow up...the R500 is an altered beast on the R6's. HUGE difference over the stock Avon CR500's. Never going back.

It does not surprise me that you found the Hoosier slicks to be an improvement over the treaded Avon road tires.
