Hello everybody, 50 years old / Swiss people / passion for Reds / owning a 296 GTB and speaking english as I can. (if it's so awful, I'll try deepl..) My1st post here - I hope it's fine to introduce myself as I did. Since I drove my 296, I directly got some regrets not having tires temperature on dashboard. To be honest, it should be on it - after all that's a sport car. And these informations are really relevant - even more compulsory! When I owned the F12, I was more confident to get this kind ot informations. What is more, having the mode "warmup", with rudimentary drawing of the tires and the engine was totally enough. No need having more beautiful drawings - just informations. Consequently, how all of you managed this when you get out with the "monster"? Because, when the tires are cold, it's like walking on a rope with eyes closed....
Your English is fine. As one of your countrymen, Marcel Massini reminds us the authorities want you to obey the traffic laws. Warmer weather may help in your quest to get heat in the tires. Until then be careful on that rope you mention. Lots to read and see about the 296 here. Enjoy,
There is actually temperature reading within the system. However, it only shows 3 states. "Warm-up" , "overheated" and nothing (After the tires are warmed up) At first, I thought "warm up" meant the engine needs to be warm, but then I found it was the tires (please correct me if I am wrong). I got "overheated" (or high temp) once when I was on the track.
I tought exactly the same about the indication *warm up" ==> the engine. And If you have a look on the drawings about it, when you start, it's deep blue - meaning motor temperature in my opinion. Eventough, "warm up" it's not mentionned any longer, I get out of the car, and touched the tires : not much more than 20°c, maximum 30°C. And with these temperature, the tires are not at all ready for "pushing", right? Really, simply add tires temperature under the indications of pressure - seems to me not an option... If someone know how to upgrade the code- I'll take it
Ouhhh I may have not the eyes aligned, but I never had the chance to find in the menu how to display the température! Could you send a picture or the way to find it? It will be very appreciated. Thank you
I would also like to see this as I have not been able to find it, but admittedly maybe I just missed it? I am away from the car for a few days so I cant look right now. In the mean time, pressures can be a little bit of a substitute for temp if you know what they should be. I agree with @bebch criticism and also others have criticized this as well as the picture of the car remaining blue. When it's cold it is a darker blue, but they really should change the image of the tires to green.
Hi.. So I wasted a bunch of time on this topic and short answer is there is no display of tire temp on 296 that i could find. I even wrote to ferrari about this and heard nothing back and neither did my dealer. Since the actual sensor does ouout the temp the only solution is buy a TPMS Display from Amazon and keep it in the car. The frustrating thing is i had a 488 before that used to show this and my 991.2 GT3 would not (and instead show some crazy temp corrected value). And here i am now with 296 and the 992 GT3 and situation has reversed! What an "upgrade" on the ferrari!!!
Hello, To be honest with you, I got the answer from my dealer as soon as I asked : no tires temperature on the 296. My post was more to ask how you deal with that fact, knowing that we drive a sportcar! And that the only thing I regret on this fantastic car. For example, IMO I'll appreciate a lot lot more having two graphic bar around the rev's for the traction control! As the GT3RS has! It's a lot more useful than the map for example... I can easily understand these informations are not so appreciate on the 12 Cilindri, but a sportcar like the 296 should be compulsory! But could you be more accurate about the Display you are speaking about? I probably buy it if it works well ==> thank you!
100% i agree with your frustration. I track my car and really like having temp / pressure so i get my hot pressures right. Any comming back to external display ...on second thoughts I don't want to reccomend it (although I bought one but not isntalled). My dealer is saying it can potentially create a slow leak.
