Do not go cheap. You don't need to buy the most expensive either. The Bridgestone RE050 is a great peforming tire and not as expensive as Goodyear, Pirellis and Michelin.

I like Toyo and Kumho tires....they look good, perform well, last and are inexpensive...

While we're on the topic of tires, I'm pleased with the Bstone S03s on the 328 and the Yoko A048s on the EVO, but both are useless in winter temperatures.

Now that I'm out of the snow belt, and given that the heater in the 328 works much better than the aircon (the 328 can almost heat my whole house) ;), I'm thinking about going with an all season tire for the 328 to eliminate the "down season" (other than the few rare snow days around here).

When local road debris destroyed the Nokian WRs I had on the EVO for winter, I tried Conti Extreme Contacts, which were well rated on the EVO list back in '03, but I found them somewhat disappointing. (But they do have the advantage of being cheap -- which is a factor in a town where I've had five punctures in three years.)

So what are opinions on all season tires (outside of snow)?: The class of the field seem to be the BStone RE960AS, the PZero Nero M&S, the Pilot Sport AS, the Advan S.4, and the newer GY F1 All seasons.

Tirerack's reviews list the GY as good grip, but with a sloppy feel, the PZeros as going off in wet, and they didn't review the Yokos.

    Any opinions?

I'm looking for something that will provide traction at ambient temperatures below the freezing point. Most "summer" tires go off at 40F or 4C.

Kumho MX ectsa. Great tire, great price. Had them on the 355 instead of the Goodyear F1 Fioranos and they were so much better.

I have Avon's on mine. I was stunned at how reasonably priced there were, and how well they performed on track (compared to my old crappy Sumitomo's)

I've always been happy with BFG G-Force KD for street (KDW is you think you'll do much driving in the rain) and Kumho V700, V710 for track. The BFGs are a little more expensive than the Bridgestones mentioned earlier in this thread, but have been very highly rated in the past.

+1 and the Toyo size for your rears would be 295/35 18's if you want to closely match the stock tire size of 265/40 18's.

Daniel...which Avons did you get? Did you get the M550 or the A/S version? Oh by the way, I need to call you to get replacement valve stems. I'm in the process of refinishing my 308 mags and they will need new shoes here in a few weeks.

Also, I guess this is a general tire question, if I get 245/50ZR16 for the rears, I would probably want to get 225/55ZR16 for the fronts to keep the sidewall heights about the same...correct?

Kumho? Too much! Ive had them on one of my cars and thought I would have to live in shame, some comment someone gave me years ago, kinda stuck. But, so far, no problems. Nice to hear they're not that bad, eh?

I'm pretty sure they are M550.
