Was wondering what the deal is with the P-30's on my 512TR. No spare in the car? Are these run Flats?
i am going out on a limb here, and mean no disrespect, but have you looked in the owners manual? there should also be a tire placcard riveted into the drivers door or door jamb.
i see, sorry i cant be of more help. i just have a beater 308. perhaps you could goto WWWTIRERACK.COM and look up the specs on your tires, surely they would say if they are run flat or not. i also thought the runflat tires say so on the sidewall somewhere. good luck! ps the "tire placcard" will be metal , or a decal and should not be missing unless there was repair work and painting done. again i have never seen a 512tr up close. just trying to help.
Soundguy -- Go to the Owner's site (www.owners.ferrari.com) and download the 512TR OM (after registering). No spare in a 512TR -- just an emergency "bottle" according to the 711/92 US 512TR OM:
I can add something to this having done some research. FOA decided that since few F cars were doing much mileage, and at the time the TR was doing the least, US owners would not want to wrestle with the consequences of a changing a flat tire. If the flat is on the rear, you have to remove the front, put the spare mini wheel on the front and then place the goo, now removed front on the rear. As the trunk is too small to accommodate even an uninflated rear wheel and tire. Another possibility was to (seriously) put the flat tire in the car on the passenger seat, hmm... so no spare tire. But with that said, a spare was sold with a special installtion kit in Europe and there is a manual supplement to prove it. But AFAIK this was only available in 93 for the 512 although I believe some were supplied for the TR which with smaller wheels could accommodate a flat tire in the trunk. So the result for most of us is a can of run flat which had expired when the car was delivered new, which a few on this list have noted including myself. I bought a heavy duty version of this can, available from JCW which includes a small efficient compressor which pumps the material into the tire avoiding reliance on the limited propellant that you get with the can.
