How do the teams actually take possession of their tires and have them mounted? Are they just randomly unloaded and handed out to the teams, or are they selected by the supplier at the event as to which exact tire goes to which team? I understand that they should all (in theory) be identical, however don't have a clue as to how they end up in a teams garage or on a specific team car. Someone must have the authority to accept, deny, etc. any tire, or is it truly a blind supply and use situation?

The rules changed this year I believe; Pirelli brings 3 compounds, & it's up to the team to decide how many of each they want.

Each team then takes their wheels to the Pirelli truck to get mounted/balanced.

The tyres are randomly assigned to each team. In theory, all tyres are identical, although I doubt so. Also I ignore which method they use to do the draw of the tyres and what guarantees they have to make sure that the draw can´t be fixed.

Personally I think that something fishy has happened at some races. Singapore 2015 comes to my mind.

Has tyre pressure contributed to the recent form of RB?

Some say that Mercedes and Red Bull have some sort of device (in the wheel or the tyre valve) that allows the tyre to reduce pressure to a desired level during the race. McLaren openly asked if they could use a wheel they were developing to achieve this and Charlie said NO. Also, some cars manage to transfer heat from the brakes to the tyre to rise the pressure and pass the test before the race.

FIA is developing a standard sensor to monitor the pressure in real time during the race to avoid this kind of stuff, but it won´t be ready for this season.

Pireli puts bar codes on every tyre and a FIA delegate allocates the tyres randomly 2 weeks before the event.

When the tyres arrive to the circuit the teams just rock up to the Pirelli tent and present their tickets under the presence of the FIA delegate :)
