I only know what I was told. But, I think the theory is to protect the threads of the wheel hubs with repeated wheel removal/refit. Its not really lube as such its a dry anti friction coating. I regularly check the torque settings and they don’t change

Been there broke that. Any type of lube - even light oil - will require at least 20% less torque or you will tear up threads. I've done it on my motorcycle on chassis bolts. They tend to corrode over time so replaced with new steel and put some light oil on them. Used a torque wrench and got way under the setting and they started to turn loose again and strip. Always torque at the condition the manual dictates. If dry then go dry. This is common knowledge (I didn't know either). If you torque to dry spec then they are definitely over-torqued.

I was intrigued with Wisdom titanium 2-piece wheel lugs and wrote them months ago.

They woke up from cryo-sleep a couple of days ago & wrote me back. Chinese for sure. Website is alive. The woman who corresponded with me has excellent English and she understood everything I was asking. The specs & measurements all appear to be correct and the finish looks good from the photos.

My query was about 458 2-piece lug bolts that I had read about in older FC posts. So they currently produce them in torx head as does Hill in Britain.... and there seem to be structural benefits with that head IE: fewer weak points or places where it might crack when you torque them on. ( Bloody better not crack even if it is hex! ... but it makes sense when you look at it).

They also produce the conventional 1-piece hex head... which she said is their biggest seller so they keep it stocked on the shelf.

The Torx 2-piece they have to queue up & build to order.

You can throw shade at Chinese manufacturers all day but that's a pretty broad brush and I've seen some impressive product from them. Remember they used to say that about Japan. Any informed observations on the strength and quality of these things?

Would you feel comfy @ 300kmh?
