Regarding the California what I meant was that it looks like the seat and interior are made out of one piece. As it is normally the case in lesser 1/43 models. In pretty much every 1/18 car the seats are separate and use different plastic/rubber/felt/fabric/leather depending on manufacturer. There are also usually seat belts, movable tops etc.

Michelotti made the F40 GT/E and the yellow model is missing a lot of details if it is trying to be one of those. I have a poor 1/18 Bburago F40 GTE (basically a F40 with stickers), but I also have a transkit F40 LM that shows a lot more detail. And if my F40 LM transkit were based on the newly arrived F40 Elite from Hotwheels it would be smokin'!

I'm not saying it can't be done in 1/43 and abugatti's model are proof of that, but I don't think your pics show particularly good examples and I would take any HW 1/18 Elite over those. Glad you and I won't ever fight over the same car on ebay. :)

Ok, that looks a lot better. And now I can see some nice details.

Here my 1/18 F40 LM transkit. Not perfect, but you see some of the details missing on your Michelotto.

    Vasco,

You're on a rampage! Where did you get the 1/18ths? Autophile? Elsewhere? Are they fairly reasonably priced where you got them?

Hi Abugatti, those 1:43's are spectacular! I can not imagine anything could be better. You would need a magnifying glass to appreciate all the details on them! Thanks for posting the pictures!

It's true that 1/43 scale cars might not have the detailing of the better 1/18 scale cars (things like tire valves and battery clamps) but that's offset by the incredible variety of models you can collect.

I myself now collect almost exclusively 1/18th (mostly AutoArt, Minichamp and Exoto) but I have a 1/43 diorama kicking around in my imagination.

I do have to agree with GTE. As someone who currenltly collects CMC/Exotos and previously collected BBR/MR/ etc, i think that pictures do not come close to doing justice to 1/43 handbuilts. When you hold them in your hand, they really do look exquisite in comparison to most 1/18 models.
Before CMC/Exotos came on the market, very few 1/18s could even come close to reproducing the artisan feel of the 1/43 models.

But both scales have progressed tremendously recently. If you look at the new CMC birdcage and recent MR/Bosica 288GTO model, the advances in both scales are great for collectors.

Andrew, you mean the 1:43's hence this thread? I bought these at Prestige in Yorkville. They are great.

However, I just got my Giodi 1:18 Nero Daytona Spyder in the mail today from France. LOL. I am still stuck between 1:18 and 1:43 I guess.

Maybe i'll just collect em both! :)

Yeah, referring to the 1/43s. I like Prestige - have purchased a couple 1/18 F1 cars from them (including two of the chrome F1 Ferrari cars). The guy who's always there (I take it he's the owner) is a pretty decent guy.

Ok, I did it again. I just bought the yellow 1:43 333SP "Ericsson No1 LM 1995" Driver's: R. Arnoux, M. Sigala & J. Cochran. And I do believe I STOLE it. I bought it on sale. Before I state the price, can someone tell me what it's worth out of curiosity? There is one left and I am thinking of buying it just because its a great deal on a 1:43.

As for going stricktly 1:43 I dont think it will happen. I also just bought the 1:18 Elite HW FXX and also a 1:18 Burnt Orange Gallardo :)
