Not so sure about this car ..... it clearly has some damage on the rear lower RH panel, the rear deck lid has been sprayed to match the body of the car (not standard) and its that well known and popular colour 'Canary Yellow' ...... Also the words mileage 'believed to be correct' would raise some alarm bells with me ...... dont doubt that we will see this car again up for sale, quite soon at some higher price, but the current purchaser has for sure, taken on some risk and i think that's reflected in this lower sales price.

This is what I thought as well. I remember seeing 1:36 for the early Testarossas. Not sure where the 1:40 came from.

Brad....im confused. I remember that selling a month ago with the dent...what did it sell for? Are you saying it sold again?

If so what was the selling price last month and the latest selling price.

Just a little confused. IF it did go for $102k thats a great deal if you like yellow. Thats a minor dent. A good restoration shop can form that out.

Sorry for the confusion on the date. Looks like it was in July, and yes it did sell for 102k at that auction.

What do you mean by "proof of manipulation"? Testing maybe(doesn't sound so sinister), but not manipulating. I am sure no one can make anyone pay more unless they really want to do it based on their own perceived value of the asset. Just because sellers are listing at high prices doesn't mean someone will pay it. Do you think all those average mile 1999 360s listed at $70-80k or $60k for a Mondial by some private sellers and dealers are even remotely getting it; maybe for <5k mi cars and possibly from those few Rube buyers out there, but it only takes one to make a sellers day...as for the rest of the market I doubt it.

There was no manipulation in the housing bubble of the last decade just people caught up in the hype and hopes of making money instead of looking for a nice place to live or in this case a nice car they will enjoy driving.

Simple analogy - Does a dealer who buys a $8-10k Corvette at auction or as a wholesale deal from a trade and then places it on their lot for $18k manipulate the Corvette market...nah.

No but the dealer in Florida buying up every TR and trying to flip them for big $$ is manipulating the market. I dont think they are getting the prices they want thus the high inventory. I hope they do, and Im glad the TR is becoming more recognized for the iconic car that it is. Say there are only 30 or so TRs for sale at a given moment. This dealer has 60% of the available market in stock at premium prices. When one person buys up a large portion of a commodity only to flip for a profit...I would call that manipulation. But thats just me.

Side note: my clone TR just sold on Ebay last night. Same year, colors (pictures appear to show a very clean car) etc. It had 17,000 miles and last major service was in 2006. Selling price was $76K. My car has 13,XXX miles, current belt service, new clutch, Dave Helms fuse panel and ZERO stories or issues. Last owner had her from 1992 until I bought her in 2011. So It was nice to see the car sell for that price as I believe mine would command more if it were for sale. The Salvage side swiped TR in CA also was marked sold.

I don't get why so many posters on this thread were dedicated to ensure that TRs' value must remain depressed. And people doing so are all supposed to be owners of TRs. Something against your asset grow in value?

It's because you can't fix stupid.

Don't bother wasting your time just sell the car if you have one, that's what I'm doing.

Big red as been very upset by Tetarossa owners lately.

I can't wait to meet him in person, he must be a very funny guy! ;-)

I doubt he would sell his car.

And if he's serious I'm sad for him :-(

The timing of auctions is appealing.

Let me know next time you head up to Newmans , snow is coming as are the holidays.

    Lets do lunch.

Come to think of it, big red is right. Why not sell your TR if you are so convinced the current prices are manipulated and can't sustain? Sell now than buy it back in 2 years for half what you sale for.

For me, I still don't understand the mentality of current owners trying hard to keep the value of their asset depressed.

Next time I go to Toronto I'll let you guys know and try to plan something.

For myself I don't really care what the price of the TR do. I'm Lucky to have buy it at a low market price. It would be nice to see it's value skyrocket if I ever want or need to sell but no matter what they are worth I will always drive it as long as I own it. I hope to be able to keep the car for a while because I like it a lot. And in my opinion if a Countach is worth $350K-$450K the TR is worth at least $200K as a direct competitor at the time. This is a lot of a car!!!

If one cars prise would "skyrocket" it does also harm for the enthuast aspect, you won't see cars out so often and spare part prices will double every six months... I remember when you where able to buy Countach shock absorber for 200€, sudenly it was 800€, then 1200€ and now it seems 2500€ and like TR, Countach has six of them; so 15000€ or something today...

So enjoy while you have great cars with dirty sheap parts.

+1, and I don't need to open and hang out the door to back it into the garage.

No offense to the Lambo owner community, but the TR driveability is much, much better.

Either the CT is overpriced, and the TR underpriced, or both at the moment.

    I didn't buy the TR as an "investment" so I really don't give a rat's ***.

Maybe it's time to retire this thread?
